Where is the best to place to be on GC ?
I think about Shearwater as usuall by chop could be unbearable ...
Where are you going to sail this Monday?

I wish my 4.2 will handle...(the smallest I have anyway...

Hope that there will be still some boats or jetski passing around from time to time.
?
Last time with broken mast I could stack ( on Crab Island ) for long hours, but been rescued by two kiwi's passing on jetski.

I have seakayak, I could bring, put on the beach so anybody could use in emergency.
What do you think ?

I think you will find that if it does hit 40knots there will be very few other water users out.

Personally I would recommend against the sea kayak idea, have you ever tried to paddle a sea kayak in 40 knots?? Try to use it for some sort of rescue and it is likely you will end up with two people needing a rescue. That is if the kayak doesn't blow down the beach and take someones head off first.

If you can't look after yourself in those conditions, especially in a closed body of water like the Broadwater, you should consider if you are actually equipped to be out there in the first place.

I did use my board (surfers style) few times to rescue few times stack ( by technical difficulties) fellow windsurfers just a 100- 200m of the bank in ~30knt wind and found if extremely difficult to paddle with my arms...
I taught that by using big paddle could be a bit easier..
eventually it is quite frustrating to stand on the bank and observe somebody in difficultly just a stone throw away and do nothing...
What is starting to develop is remotely controlled electrically propelled vessel/ board that could tow a person from surf to the bank

^ Just swim, like a man. Sheesh. If you can't swim back yourself don't go out in the first place.

Electrically controlled rescue vehicles? What next? A crack team to go with it, and a secret island hideout?

Well, there goes Sunday too.

This used to be Gestalt's job.

this is absolutely true but with this extra backup we could afford this extra risk...
that possibly why I have been on semi - waves in Melbourne in the most extreame weather but never even tried on GC regrettably - I don't feel prepared even for mild and modest ....

If the wind like that or better and against the current you don't need be this cookie heroes to prove me that you could not swim with broken gear in direction you just required...
I saw folks hauling boards broken in half with rig attached, on the waves trough white wash safely, but never happy ...

Huh??? I need a translator.

Hmm, the way you re-quoted me sounds like I told you not to go out at all, which isn't the case. With quoting like that do you work for the Courier Mail??

Please put your ideas forward Macroscience but be aware that google auto translator sometimes gives obscure translations.

I can't say, but:
not Shearwater; tide is going in the wrong direction.
Looks too South for The Train, but possible; bit sheltered/gusty.

...that leaves one other place in the Broadwater. Flat and fast.

So now is not Mon or Tue but Sunday !!
not 40+ but 25+
I guess and in real time we still could have 35+
time to wash the mold of my 4.2 and 5.0 as a backup if below 30

Finally get to roll out the Severne Gator 5.2.

Typical gold coast though, don't get too excited yet!

Clouds and rain could muffle it out, fingers crossed it hits.

If the wind hits hard who gives a crapper about tides at shearwater, if you cant point against the tide over a km of water, maybe buy a jetski instead I'll be at sw.

^ Actually today is not so bad, but given a new moon and a 4 knot tide going with the wind:

[back of envelope]
Tide = 4 knots/8Kmh
Run out and back = 1Km
Average speed = 25 knots/50kmh

Time to run out and back = 60/50 = 1.2 minutes.
Tide travels in 1.2 minutes = 8kmh/50 = 160m

On a wave board I'd hazard that that is about 80% of your max upwind ability, don't forget the gybes at each end.
It's just not as fun going upwind all the time is all.

Also The Grand can be a blast.

Low tide is about midday and it takes a while to turn around. You probably have until 1pm before it is worth worrying about it. After that if it is windy enough it should be doable. its pretty southerly so still probably the best bet. I was hoping for more SE but might have to hit SW. Long time since last decent wind.

Yeah i know but it's better than getting blisters on my head from sunburn. Getting thin on top when my hair is wet. It's the only thing that will stay on and is quiet to wear while sailing. The bucket hat i used to wear was noisy as, like putting your hands around ears so the bandana is here to stay ya scoundrel

Nice work nac it's out there man! At least your not combining it with a euro short, yet!

But then again I have windsurfed nude, with no respect to the sun damage on any body parts!

Hey good to see you nearly have those gybes down, good effort!

Haven't you seen that Seinfeld episode about nude housekeeping. Some things and some circumstances are better with some cover, if only for others Careful with those willie skippers.
Not talking about the guy wearing a hanky on his head today. Hey if it makes him feel good each to their own. I can remember wearing one around my forehead in my younger travelling days. ...err because it kept the sweat out of my eyes in hot climates. Actually some fun stories followed that.
