Yes I want to get out tomorrow.
I usually go to sandstone pt in a Se - usually a little more sheltered for this beginner
However would like to check ot beechmere - what can I expect compared to sandstone pt/ pebble beach. Is it a rougher playground?
Given the tide info how far either side of high tide is useable?
Cheers Jeff
Hi Jeff. Anything lower than 1.5m will give you a fairly long walk. Not sure how it compares to sandstone pt or pebble beach but in a SE it is very safe as you are always generally in your depth and the wind is on shore so you sail along the coast (generally speaking). It also has a sandy bottom so there is nothing to cut your feet on. As the wind increases so do the waves. When I say waves, it is not a surf beach but there are some nice little ramps to practice jumps and wave riding. They are also nicely spread out so it is not like sailing in bay chop. As a beginner it would be a great spot, especially in less than 15 kts as it would be a bit smoother. Try to be there on a high tide though as the walk sucks! Park at the end of Neil st. Enjoy
