HI Freerace fans!

As per the Freerace Schedule its fast approaching the first Sunday of the new month and February is scheduled for Lake Weyba Noosa

As they say on the cyclone warnings, 'be prepared, the chance for a sail is likely in the next few days, stock up on supplies and stay tuned to your local ABC, or in this case Seabreeze and Face Book!

It's looking likely there will be wind on Sunday, this is great opportunity to give it a crack if you haven't done so already, Lake Weyba is MUCH smoother than Cootharba and should allow greater speeds, Weyba also works really well when there is a lot of east in the wind also.

There are really no amenities as such at the lake, just lots of grass and shady trees, but Noosa is only 10miniutes down the road, so bring the family send them off for a ice cream, swim at the beach and maybe some shopping on Hastings street whilst you get stuck into the sailing, it's also a bit closer to Brisbane also (we are working on a Brisbane event possibly in March)

Pretty much anyone can take it out with at least 3-4 rounds still to go.

Is that on the western side of the lake?

Think the photo was pretty much taken from middle section of the esplanade, its the Noosa side of the lake entry from Eumeralla road off the Enie Creek bypass road,
Don't take the murdering creek road exit you will end up on wrong side I the lake!

Thanks for the directions, won't be there Sun, but coming up Mon for a few days with a few guys targeting Golden Beach, Weyba and Cootharaba.

Lovely day at Lake Weyba for yesterday's Freerace Round 5, a bit too lovely as the wind was light and patchy.
A good roll up including the big guns from Brissy made for a good vibe on the lake, kids playing in and out of the water, a big high tide that had flushed the lake full of fresh seawater , the place looked like paradise!

After one false start when the wind died completely we managed a very light wind hour in 'non freerace' conditions, but given so many people had suitable gear and were having a great time it would have been a shame not to green flag it.

Sailors being closer to each other made it more fun also as there were opportunities to try and chase down to keep up with other sailors.

At the end of the day Vando with his new sexy Starboard/Severne Combo managed +20knots for the hour which was really good in the light winds, Brad Anderson came in 2nd, Dave Sandos 3rd Rob Humpries and [b]Bill Eastgate on classic Freerace gear of Starboard Futura and a NP Hellcat was matching it with the more high end dedicated gear and dis well rounding out the top 5.

Now the big thing is..what does this mean for the series ladder board?

There is now a bit of jam at the top of the ladder with quite a few people near the top, will publish the ladder later today....the points system is being converted over to a 'sailing score system' where lowest number of points is the winner/leader.
With 5 rounds completed and more to come the ladder board is looking quite full and the concept of a real regular windsurfing series is and has become an exciting reality.

Yeah very nice work on the Video Dylan (1st time viewing only just now) and thanks for the Gopro stuff Peter. Big cluster up the Southern corner of the lake and not good when I wasn't even moving for a while there bit underdone but still a fun day on the lake.
