Nice. That is some serious ISO with little grain. Waves are not too motion blurred so shutter must be about 1/4-1/15th? Surreal effect. Just need eyes that work like that and we would increase our windsurfing time around work. What's your new toy?
Always refreshing to see your passion..

Hey mate, they are awesome shots. They are so clear I can nearly smell the grog coming from the beer tent (Simons tent). The Wednesday went off and luckily for me the misses said we could leave late.

PS: Ye Ol iPhone not quite up to the standard of your new toy.

Top shelf again Haircut, very nice
Now I have to ask as I'm a photo wanabe, I'm guessing not long exposures, did you use Merge HDR or combine multiple photos some other way. Just asking cos I haven't a clue

hi all, thanks again

chris - while i was there not much wind, just enough to get on the plane with the freestyle and pop the board. sailing out back is kinda like sailing at redcliff. i'd imagine with honking wind it might get similar to beachmere possibly? To me, the spot is like a mix between caloundra bar and inverloch in victoria

mr spag - i think it's called elliott heads camp park

bob - no HDR or multiple exposures, but as rustle guessed they were from 1/4 to 1/25 of a second @ 6400 iso. the mk3 is slightly cleaner noise wise at 6400 than the 5d2 at 3200. there's noise reduction applied, brightening up and some sharpening

rustle / bob - my unscientific comparison if u are interested

this is iso 6400 on both cams. 5d2 left and 5d3 right << so far it has more reliable auto white balance too. in-camera n/r & sharpening is off on both cams. althought the one on the left looks sharper in this shot, the cams are just as sharp as each other

Thanks HC, that's impressive. I don't think my 60D's smaller sensor has a hope in hell doing that but of course I'll give it a go next full moon
I've tried long exposure (stars) but got too many hot pixels, that's what tricked me with your shots plus no star trails. I'd be pushing it too far at 3200 I'd think, more to learn

well i've got a cheap 5d2 f/s hint hint

have you tried the lens cap cleaning trick? it's more for remapping / masking stuck pixels but it seemed to dull the brightness of hot purple and red ones from longer exposures on my cams. Might be worth a try?

I'd like to go down the 5D road eventually and hand the 60D over to my son, one day

My sensor's ok, the problem was way too long exposure, I've since found out the trick for star trails is to take multiple shots and wack together in Photoshop. I'll give that a go next time I go inland camping.

Thanks
