Yesterday had a nice light wind run - the best part is my 14yo finally got it together to have a proper go on the pacifico 200l which I set up for my wife with a 3m kids rig and success woo hoo. He had a nice sail and by the end he could turn around with out falling. Now wants to go faster

Me I had a great light wind run practiced tacking and gybing without stopping only one successful gybe I think (downwind) started turning downwind as the board went through 90 degrees I flipped the sail kept the board moving and turning grabbed the wind and away I went, how cool was that, and it felt great but do you think I could do it again phhhht no way just couldn't get that timing correct. Turn to early as I seemed to be driven off the board and into the water by the sail with the wind on the wrong side of the sail.

My older son and I are at about the same level we were on the Starboard Rio 245l with 6m severne synergy the biggest sail between us - think we are ready to look at a 7 m sail for light winds. I am sure Ben is going to talk to Simon about that. We ended up on the pacifico so the new learners could us the centre board (which they liked)

We will see what today brings looks like this afternoon a good bit of wind.

You could be back on the 3 metre yourself this arvo! Looks like huey is turning the fan on for the rest of the week! Have fun. Willbe at noosa as the surf is building to 6 ft plus from Sunday for a week. So hope to get to the lake to practice my. Water starts. When I get sick of the crowds at tee tree.if I see you. I will come and say hi.

Saturday we went out at 2pm til virtually dark - the young fella showing us all - man, he not only is picking it up really fast, but has virtually caught up with his older brother and myself. Successfully completed many turns both ways on the Naish 180 with 3m kids rig. Also, while he was at it decided to master beach starts and successfully completed many. Nice going. Very proud dad At that pace he will be out racing with the big guys at Wello before his brother and I - look out .

My wife progressed well on the same board and rig with a couple of nice runs out to the middle - not as stable as the 245l Rio but we couldn't get that off Ben. So she had trouble turning but all in all looks the part and was getting some pace on.

Ben was smashing it til really late and having a great time with his younger brother. He Stole my harness and had a couple of goes with and likes it.

Me, I only made it to around 5.30 getting old - man feeling it this morning - worked on my beach starts in low wind and managed another successful gybe only one couldn't do any more but not without trying though. Looks like the forecast is correct the sun is out and the wind is howling. Ben and I decided to go with the 5.3m sail today and see what damage we can do lol. Hope we don't get in the way of too many people. Have fun

I have a lot of tips on how not to water start at the moment. And after 3 days I think I need to get in a bath of deep heat lol.

Anita is doing well but can't lift our 4.5m retro sail out of the water am going to have to get one that is a bit lighter.

Yesterday Australian day - Cootharabah was going off in the wind department must have been over 25knots - in the morning we put the 5.3 Ka sail on the Starboard Rio 245L (beginning to feel this board is maybe a bit too big for us) man it was bumpy as all get out.

Wife - no way am I getting in in this wind. Wise girl

Younger son 14 yo day 4 for him on the windsurfer - " I'm up for it" he says. He wants to go fast so we set him up on the Naish 180L with the kids rig. As he was going so well the day before thought he would be water starting by the end of the session. Pretty much just got smashed. He was not so happy with his day on a windsurfer.

Older son Ben, well he muffed a beach start, and kept hold of it, and with that did the first of many water starts - man I am so jealous. He had a couple of ok runs but a lot of falling off due the the 2' swell. Had enough and took his family to Noosa.

Me - I tried and tried and tried to get a water start happening - the first attempt was ok but couldn't get it together again. So had a couple of good runs and pretty much got smashed. But did have some good pace on the runs I had, so felt ok.

Went to the sailing club to see what was happening and to say hi to the racers and got to chatting to a nice guy, Josey - his suggestion was to put the 4.5 on the Mistral Pacifico narrower long board go faster and eat up the swell better. Thinking that was a good idea off I went and put it together Ben and the young fella were still in Noosa. I went in - man, what a blast - I recon the monster got up and was planing woo hoo - tried to water start and tried and tried but no good.

The boys arrived back from Noosa saw how fast I was going and in they came - Ben, first went off about me using that sail as it is so heavy to up haul he even finds it tough. I think we are going to burn it???.! Jaye had a go but there was no chance of him up hauling so he has thrown in the towel but decided to go get the kids rig to get a taste of the speed, and did, with a grin from ear to ear. I think he is hooked now as well. Look out Wello here we come. Ben Recons we need a gps too.

Great pics, well done...sometimes longer and skinnier is actually easier, maybe stay on that one now..looks like your well past the Rio stage! the Pacifico is a nice sup in flat water also.

I sailed past you guys a few times on the Sunday. Looked like you were going well. I'm pretty sure I also saw you Sat afternoon as we went for walk. Were you closer to the point were the entrance road to the caravan park starts?
I was giving some lessons on the light days as well. Above is a pic.

Yes that was us we went out Friday, Saturday and twice on Sunday - not sure it was the best spot the wind seemed to be doing weird things off the point there. haha that is my story.

Yeah we saw that sail - good to see a few learners amongst it - sometimes feels we are the only one's.
