With the nice southeaster all day tomorrow the wife and I are hoping to get out and try our new boards! Been months since we sailed. Our skills are not really up to big chop. We like sailing with the Sandstone Point crew but the tide is in the middle of the day, so that's out. Our plan B would be the long drive to Boreen Point.

But I wondered what the sailing is like at Golden Beach? I've heard guys saying it's great, but is it OK to sail on the dead low tide? Does the wind and tide direction matter? What's the best spot to rig up? Thanks!

Have you tried lake Weyba on the sunshine coast. Not as far a drive as Boreen Point. Works really well on a SE, is shallow like Lake Cootharaba.

Worth a look ... is there a particular spot to aim for?

Hey Andrew, Jeff was talking about sailing Sandstone on the high tide in the morning but I'll warn you now, if it's anything like this arvo it's pretty bumpy.

I know John, thanks, he messaged me too, but we can't get away that early. Yes I saw your post - must have been wild up there this arvo. The WillyWeather forecast for Sandstone Point had it down as "near gale" at 4pm! And building!

Weyba downs on the western side of the lake, Take Euremella rd off Route 70 and turn left into Lake Weyba Drive. There is a dirt track at the end to get you to closer to the water and a grass area to rig on. This beach faces SE.

Lake Weyba may have some good runs but you have to love muddy water. Nothing beats Golden Beach when the water colour is a rich blue. Always with a try when the the wind is between SE and NE.

Hey Ausmoz, I have to apologize that I don't know which you are, of the various nice people I met at Golden Beach yesterday! Yes, definitely loved the board. It was a big day - and a first time experiencing Golden Beach, with a few minor dramas. I'm going to write a bit of a report later (well, when I say "a bit" those who know me would know that my reports are measured in pages rather than paragraphs ...)

You came and seen me and asked me what it was like. I think I said you would enjoy the new board over your old BIC's. I had a silver Gath helmet.
Was the minor dramas involving shallow water or sand banks?
