No, just spoke to him. He's trying to finish up a few things before heading to Green Sunday afternoon. He might get a quick sail in at the bar. I hope the weekend doesn't turn dodgy. I haven't had a sail for about five weeks. Fitness will be questionable.

Bongaree sounds like a good bet. I might give it a go just to see what its like in a south wester.

Well it was nicely windy. I got there pretty late. There was no one on the water and I saw a couple of blokes leaving. It got up to maybe 18 kts for a bit and slowly died away to 1 kt. I pushed my luck and ended up with a short swim and a walk.

There's nothing special about it in that wind direction (SW) except that the wind is reasonably even because of the decent fetch. Its better than Wello in that respect.

Bribie was great. Really surprisingly consistent for a westerly. Got there around 10am. Sailed till around 2pm. Picked up more. Was a matter of change down or go home. Nothing left in the tank. Went Home very satisfied.

the guys that got there late had to swim back in. i still reckon bribie is one of the better spots in a SW wind.

It would be good to see you at the old stompin grounds tomorrow. Better forecast. Southerly says put some fuel in your car.

redcliffe - 1 hr

You are right. What I meant by "nothing special" was that it is common or garden bay sailing, no special bumps or speed spots. Although it does get pretty smooth over the shallows and reasonably bumpy outside. South-easters offer more interesting sailing there imho.

yeah you're right there. but it does get very flat over in the shallows in SW wind.

SE winds are full on. the biggest sweel i have ever sailed in. dags and i have been out there when the guy beside you disappears behind each wave.

the lookout side gets big swell also in a southerly. actually very big. we just haven't been there when it's blowing 25knots or more.

i'd like to hit redcliffe up again soonish. not tomorrow but next big southerly i'm off to suttons.

sorry, the wreck is bongaree.

there used to be a shipwreck there so locally it is referred to as the wreck.

Dags had the best of it I got there after 12 and the water was pretty rough, good fun though alot of west in it, launching from pebble beach would have been better I think. Powered up on a 5.8.

bellara is a cracker spot in a NW wind with an incoming tide. sail from bellara over to the marina and back.

Yeh, but it's pretty dirty, gusty, flooky in there. Mind you Saturday was mostly west. It wouldn't have been too bad along the inside of that bank if it hasn't silted up and changed too much. Then there's a question of how many moored boats. You might be thinking of SE. That's the right angle to sail straight across the passage in front of the marina.

yeah the SE'rs there were ok. a little gusty though.

in a NW it's got plenty of channel to funnel down (about 9km). it's like shearwater on steriods, especially when the current is running very quick.

hey do you remember that spot just before the marina we occasionally sailed in a NE wind. knee deep mud at the launch area.
