Due to budgetary concerns the reality of this may be seen on p182 of funny images.

This could also work as our start boat.

I was planning to attend this but unfortunately will have to give my apologies as I have just had my appendix taken out and I am still in recovery.

Will be interested to know what the mood is there for Raceboards this season. Also, is Simon getting another shipment of Phantoms to bolster numbers?

I am happy to help with the organising if I can, however I can only attend every second weekend at best.

Thanks to all those members who attended last nights AGM.

Some highlights!

1. Simon Jenns is our new President this year!
2. Any financial members from 2012-13 will be entitled to FREE membership in the 13-14 year. This decision was made based on the lack of wind, hence lack of events held last year. Financially the club is in an excellent position.
3. Clive Churchman will head up a Slalom Race Committee. This is the most critical role, he will need support from the rest of the club, especially those will experience in this area. His first job will be to fill a race committee. If you are interested please contact him. The race day load will need to be spread on an equitable basis. Many hands make light work.
4. David Sterling has volunteered the use of his boat on race days. Any expenses to be reimbursed by the Club.
5. Brendan Moore (da vecta) will head a raceboard committee.

Ultimately the club will still focus on Slalom racing. The longboard program will seek to leverage existing couse racing programs within the SEQ sailing community.

Freerace is another interesting development and Bayside sailboards will work together with this new club, potentially a joint slalom freerace weekend to be run at Lake Cootharaba this year. 2 day event!

cheers

That's looking pretty good. Normally I wouldn't join any club that would accept me as a member, but for this I am happy to make an exception.

As for the Raceboards, I am looking at presenting some ideas to the members for both some serious racing as well as simple/fun course racing. I urge all the slalom guys to keep an eye out for any longboards floating around as one idea is to have some fun races with the sail size limited to slalom sails. So, any member can throw a rig on to join in.

Do you mean "Slalom 88 :Bayside class 8m sail" or "Slalom Class : IFCA Class a 10m sail"?
Or regular sizes like 7m?

For a fun day I would probably just say about 7.8 as most people have these. This would be just to get some new guys down for a race and to keep the fleet a bit more even. (Leo, Simon and Cam could be restricted to a 3.7 though )

For more serious racing, it would of course be the 9.5m Raceboard limit.

The good thing about longboards I think is that the course setting is not critical as it is with slalom. For slalom the marks and the start have to be pretty much exact but with longboards we should be able to set up a makeshift course pretty much by using existing marks etc. ...and for the fun days even a beach start would suffice. This should also make it easier to have more races.

...but these are just some thoughts at this stage. It will ultimately be up to what the members want.
