Would anyone up there go to Michaelmas cay as a lauch site? not far from Green Is and looks like the reef is a good angle for the SE lys. Google earth shows some tourist boats there so I guess its easy enough to get there.

Sailpilot,
I was only thinking the exact thing last time in GE looking at GI. It does look like a great strip for SE winds.

PS - you taking family to GI this year?

Have sailed at Michaelmas before. great fun. tour boats are there only 10-3pm. not end of world when they are there (ie swedish bikini team)- but dont hit snorkellor in the water. out east past passions of paradise mooring, good fun long sand flats.
better than vlahoff which is a rollier anchorage, lotsa bombies.
michaelmas is only 15nm from yorkies- watch the approach, dont turn south to anchorage until you pass the double bubble boys.
can get a fair bit of current which can dilute the wind so rig big
Was there a couple of weeks ago, see fotos below. was talking to Ben, thought it would be an ideal backdrop for shooting his Severne catalogue.
another bonus is its a green zone so killer fish action- huge giant trevally resident. good party trick is to lob a pillie in front of your mate snorkelling, watch the GTs smash em.
didnt see you at yorkyz Bob??

I have sailed here also. Stayed overnight on a mates boat and sailed in the arvo once the touro's had left. Had a **** ton of birds there last time and noise was dam right annoying. Might have been in breeding season or something like it.
