Just an observation from a lot of years. Early and late season sea breezes seem stronger in the gong then anywhere else. Here is an example from today. Obviously the shoalhaven is definitely windiest over true summer but keep an eye on east corrimal/warilla for the next month or so!

Sydney Harbour similar. Does tend to funnel NE due to the angle.

Not much surf action though!

Yes I've also noticed, in the 6 years I've been here, that that seems to be the case early and late season. 2nd noreaster 9 days into spring, another one monday?
The 'gong's hard to beat.

(The Gerroa anemometer is just probably in a hollow, but it's consistently in a hollow. Just double the reading in a noreaster, (not that I ever bother doing the long drive these days))

Use the point perpendicular graph. It's pretty accurate for Gerroa's strength.

Yep sailed in the Gong yesterday, fully powered on a 5.2, shoulder high sets, new sails #firstworldproblems ^_^

As everyone has said, early in the season for some reason it always pumps here....once you get to Dec/Jan though it seems fair less consistent. Will start to build then often just shut off; you can always see it pumping off shore about 400m or so but it just doesn't get into shore, up my end of the Gong anyway, down Port Kembla way might be a bit different. Must have something to do with the proximity of the escarpment to the beach and the prevailing weather patterns at that time of year. By then though Gerroa is always cranking with metronomic regularity...usually flat though :P

Well I reckon you blokes are just selfish buggers. I sailed yesterday on a 112 litre slalom board with a 7.8 race sail and was fine.
whats this crap about 5.2's and waves and **** etc. Blouses the lot of you!!!! And this was at Lake Dangerous aka Narrabeen Lake where we all know the Doogsmeister learnt to do those loopy things. George, you should know better. Punta San Carlos is where people with no cojones go to kick ex world champions arses!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hope it heals soon
