Hi guys going to be up at port mac next 2 days. Any one ever tried to wavesail cresent head. Looking like it might be some good cross off down the line on Friday.

Any info would be great.

haven't considered Crescent due to it being known as a favoured surfing spot. On my drives up to Qld I would normally sail further south or Nambucca/Coffs area if I could make the time but I usually leave Sydney too late.

Maybe PhilSWR or AJeaster could advise?

I few should be sailing at middle rock south of Port mac.

Mmm I think crescent will be protected but take your paddle board and sit in the line up with the chain link fence as your takeoff point for the reforms.
For sailing try driving 1/2 way to point plumber as there are a few more open beaches and plenty of space to get a break to yourself

ibid and tomp are on the money Tommy - school hols, Crescent will be jam packed with mals, SUPs, g.boats, kids on boogies, lilos/surfmats and swimmers.

I must admit that I havent thought to try Wavesailing Crescent, but i think like Tim said, it would be too sheltered in a SW.

SW at MRock is tricky - tried it a few times and found it too gusty on the North side due to the high dunes and low set beach. A few kites get to make a go of it in these conditions tho so you shouldn't be alone if you wish to give MRock a go

I hope to grab a few sneeky hours on the speeder at Queens.......if you can't find a wave up north give me a call -

Phil lives at SWR and will be sailing there tomorrow........the SW wind will be almost dead offshore, but the rising swell MAY create some fun for you. More like open bay sailing with some fun jumping ops, and not the cross-off wave riding you would be chasing on the Goya tho.... will PM you Phils and my new mobile #

Hey Tommy,

All info you've got is correct. Cresent Head is a great wave, but there's one serious headland blocking most wind from the south / south west. It can blow a gail and be quite calm there. South east would sneak in there a tad, but either way it's a full circus will mals, sups, blow up thongs etc, basically a waste of time surfing there now-a-days.

There's a few of us up SWR's hoping for wind and waves tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday. I'm confident Saturday and Sunday will have waves rolling around the point, prob flat tomorrow though, but great for a charge around the gin clear shallow flats. S-West (as predicted) is cross off and clean for the lefts sweeping through. See how it pans out I guess.

Yea thanks for the info guys. Always seemed like a good option in a big southerly when every one clears because its blowing 40 knots. Looks like its not going to blow as much as first forecasted.

Will check middle rock but if its not good will head home and try get a late one in at toowoon.

Could try Delicate Nobby!! Windsurfed there on both NEsters and Southerlies it's awesome. If big swell managing the shorebreak could be a bit tricky.
On a Southerly best to get out from the middle of the beach the waves near the rocky outcrop could get massive very quickly!
And definitely no crowd..

Tried it on my way driving to sydney from brisbane a few years ago. Cranking southerly, decent swell... I is way too protected though. Have a look but don't hold your hopes too high. I think I ended up sailing south west rocks (on the goal side) and it was pretty good from memory
