The lake is full. Has anyone sailed it? (This century or last?)

this was shot a couple of weeks back by Long, one of the Canberra crew.

Awesome, any idea where he launched from? Or any other handy tips?

Its been 20+yrs since i sailed there but we would sail below Weereewa Lookout, we sailed in the late afternoon easterlies that we rely on here thru summer. Back then David P tied milk bottles to a bunch of posts so we had gates to sail thru between paddocks. (he also placed a couple of drums that we raced slalom around, they remained there for many years in the paddock after the water was gone). I am not sure what is there now regarding fencing.

How deep is it ? Did he have to use a small fin? It looks great!

Drove past the other day.

There was a what appeared to be a black and white HSM superfreak out in the middle. Fair way out and moving slowly and I didn't stop the car.

Big lake though. I've never seen water in it before.

I was out there on the 19th December with my son in a strong westerly. We launched from below the vc Anderson carpark at the southern end on the highway. It's about a 150-200m walk out in calf high shallow water until you can properly launch (about knee deep).
Long runs and consistent wind makes the walk out worth it though.
I'm 95kg and was on a tabou 125 rocket with a 7.2 freeride sail, 36' freeride fin.
You can see all the fence post but there wasn't many to worry about where we were.
Definitely worth a sail just for the consistent winds.

Consistent ? westerly? Do those 2 things actually go together?
They must be better down your way..

Haha, not normal for this area either but was the most consistent westerly I've sailed in around Canberra. LBG westerly normally has more holes in it than a Scomo speach.

Yes I think it would be a lot better than Lake Burley Griffin!
