Hi All,

I have a 2013 Isonic 97 that has a dent/crack on the nose. Not sure when it happened, but I noticed it when I was sailing it last. It is hard to see, but I am not sure if it is taking on water... It has probably been sailed a few times with the damage, as I can't recall ever doing anything to cause it.

Anyway, can anyone suggest someone to have a look at it and do any repairs that need to be done. I really just want it sealed (and as much water as possible removed from it if it has any inside). You can hardly see anything at the moment and it does not effect performance.... unless my board is slowly getting heavier!!

Hi Adrian,
If you want to do it yourself just remove the vent screw, insert some kitchen paper towel in the shape of a wick and leave in the sun for awhile deck down.
Then get some Solarez or similar and follow instructions.
If you want to get it properly looked at try the guys at Windsurfnsnow at Collaroy 9971 0999. They can assess. They have a guy called Macca that does their repairs and is very good.

I haven't used Wind, Surf & Snow's repairer before (I think you can have a bit of a wait with him as he often has a lot on), you can try Divola Boats in Manly Vale or Breakers Board Repair in Brookvale. Both have completed major repairs to a high standard for me.

Heard they are both very good too, so sounds like you cant go wrong.

Both are very good repairers. I think Tim at Breakers is there on a Saturday morning so it's makes it easier for a desk jockey like me to drop-off and collect the board. Divola was probably cheaper, though the repair job I gave to Breakers was a lot more substantial.

Solarez is fine for a quick repair but don't expect it to last forever. I've used it numerous times as a temporary fix to keep surfboards watertight, however it becomes brittle after a while and eventually breaks or falls out.
