when is speed week at sandy point . i need to organize a holiday for the misses so i can go!!!!!!!!

Good question! I was going to ask the same thing.

I think in past years it has been timed to coincide with at least one of the weeks of the Victorian school holidays, and last year the first week of 'speed week' fortnight was from the 26th/27th of September.

Taking a wild guess, I think it means that this year will start from the 25th of September until the 10th of October. This catches the last week of the Vic school holidays, and the entire time of the NSW school holidays.

This is just a guess, and ultimately it comes down to when someone decides to coordinate it. Last year I think Matt coordinated it, and I believe in previous years it has been Al Green.

Conan - last year the second week was just after Heat 1 of the NSW Formula Series (First weekend of Oct). A number of people left Hawks Nest and went straight down to Sandy Pt (Aus4 included).

Dales right.... for once we,re looking at Sat 25th through to Sun the 10th but we just have to organise the 60kts again.At the moment its double booked but there may be a cancellation in WA Hopefully Al will return

Yeah yeah Kato. I am sometimes observant and notice these things. I even saw some crazy bloke sailing out of control within centimetres of the sandbank once

Please organise the 60knots for a day mid-week giving the rest of us non-Pitcrew a chance to get up to speed without throwing us in at the deep end. On a positive note, I now probably have the weight to handle 60knots (just not the skills)

Speed FORTNIGHT!

Jeeze, anyone would think we are desperate for some wind...!!!! Ok here goes...


KA SpeedFortnight is on again this year - woohoo - the two weeks will be 25th Sept - 10th Oct.

One of the fun aspects of this fortnight is that the sponsors have come on board with daily draws totalling over $2000 dollars in give-aways. This year KA Sail has already stepping up to the mark.

I'm organising housing again so if you are interested in a room, then let me know - previous years' cost about $300 or so for two weeks.


Apparently this isn't the premier gather for speedsailing, that title is claimed to be held elsewhere in Oz, I think it was somewhere up north.... or so they say - we just happen to have 50kn pegged.

The history of this event speaks for itself, but if there is no wind, we will head off to the local go karting track for some off-water-racing.

hehe.... we can lend you the title if you want. as KA is the sponsor of both events.

p.s. we did have a nautical mile record for a while. and we have temps over 30deg C

unfortunately this year we had near zero wind and the water went from blue to brown,.

haha dont remember that i got the quickest lap time,but i do remember you ringing up before we left asking if i had an advantage being lighter,and they said i would be sliding all over the place....only time i did was when i tried to spin lockwood out then he got me back on the corner.

all good fun though

i reckon it's the only time I'll ever be faster than slowie

Yeah, well, in Carts small and light is fast.

[}:)] That was fun. I saw the evil glint in young isaac's eye as he came tearing up behind me into the corner... I flicked the back end out to bounce off him to straighten up. worked a charm. Looked back to see young isaac doing 360s off into the grass Yes the carts are all different- tyres and engines. And weight does make a huge difference in those power limited things. With a bit more power I think the argument of light guys having more trouble in the corners might hold, but not in the gutless stock carts. All good fun though. More enjoyable when you have the advantage though [}:)]

yes, pity they reached top speed so quick....only if it had a little more.

Having just watched the Speed Week Video from 2004 (courtesy of Mal Wright/Via Kato) I really really really must get there..... Cant make it this year, but you best all be saving a spot for a Brit next year....
