My mate is around the same weight/height and without carrying weight can match it with the big boys.
So it doesn't surprise me to see light sailors going fast.

Looks like it was a ripper day. PBs or close to all around.

I thought Farrel was going to be on the sp40.
I'm surprised he's got the 44 down.

Nice speeds, but where,s the "small,light person" At 90kg and 6' 4" he,s no light weight. It would be nice to see a weight v speed (NO weight jacket) ratio

ooops sorry kato didnt quite see the 6' 4 comment.....i am sure gpsss will have a weight jacket categorie shortly! they have just about everything else some of the search functions they have have done my head in!!

He put in a session on 19/7/08 on an sp40,who knows...one Carbon Art or the other

Both on Foretrex so knock .5 to .7 knots off. Bloody great speeds all the same!!

Had a chat with Farrel tonight. He was on the 44 with a 21.5cm KA Asy. He tried the SP40 with the 20cm KA Asy but reckoned the chop was getting a bit hairy halfway down and found that setup a little more "skitish". I guess with a solid wall nearby one wants to be cautious... The 44 has a bit more nose rocker and balances the 21.5cm a little better- the bigger fin feels a bit more secure when things are getting broad and hairy. So he felt safer using that... Fair enough! Nothing slow about the 44/21.5cm combo. Thats what I used to get my PB 5x10.

Normally he carries a lot but he has made several comments that the course was broard and he thought he would be faster on the 5.7 than the 5.2 he used so I guess he felt underpowered which is why he had no weight in the photo. He also wore a helmet cam which he took off later (when the photo sequence was taken). Maybe it was the same for the vest.

I was lucky enough to be at the WK session.

Farrel was on fire. He has his CA 44 totally dialed. The end of the course was very choppy in the morning, but i had my fastest peaks and 10 second runs during that time.

In the afternoon the course went about 15 degrees squarer and was flat all the way down.

It was the 1st time on my Demon 5.3 C4 and the C3 strike. The C4 had loads of grunt on the sling shot and was great in the broad conditions. The C3 strike is a superb fin that is sooooo secure. Not once did it spin out. Even when i was standing on the tail to slow the board down.

Only Howard Rowson and myself used the Navi. The rest of the guys were using the foretrex. I spoke with the UK RTK and requested that he verify my track using non doppler as this would make a level playing field with the rest of the guys. I let MvM know and he told me to re-post with doppler. So i did.

I dont know what you guys think, but i think there should be a doppler ranking and a track point ranking on gps-ss.
