Just wondering if it was a easy job to re box these fins. would be handy as have got a new board and wouldnt need to buy anymore. i know there's fin expeerts out there.........

Thats cool den Thanks Elmo. not sure where to start though, grinding ok to get it to fit in boards box, but how do we ya get the screw threads imbeded and in position. yeh some pics would be cool

you can just tap and thread straight in to the fin head if you like, this is the method i use... i use 1/4 inch tap as i prefer the coarser thread than to the metric equivalent (6mm) but you can use either..metric or imperial
in the case of imperial
you will need a 7/32 drill and a 1/4 tap.(both metric and imperial taps can be sourced from the local hardware)
put the fin in the board(support the fin on a non slip surface) drill into the fin through the bolt hole making sure to keep the drill centered while you are drilling.drill in aprox 10mm then pull the fin out and finish drilling the hole ready for tapping (make sure you maintain the angle you drilled the original hole) don't drill through the other side of the tuttle head!,you can place the drill bit along side the fin head and mark the circumference of the drill bit with masking tape or an artline pen to act as a depth gauge,i usually drill to within 10mm of the surface as i tend to have lots of bolts of various lengths on the go.
once the pilot hole is drilled you can drive the tap straight into the hole (ideally using a tap wrench )but a small shifter will do the job as well.
make sure you clean the thread you are cutting every couple of turns by unscrewing a turn or two or take the tap out and turn the fin upside down.
once the tap has bottomed out you can counter sink the top of the hole with a large drill say 1/2 slightly to allow the fin bolt to find its way on to th thread.
the other method of positioning purpose made female threads is a little more fiddly and i will leave that to some one else to explain.

Got to find the floor of my shed first

Forgot to tie a rope from my wrist to the door last weekend, took me 3 hours to find my way out, fortunately I had an Iced coffee with me which kept me strong to battle the extreme conditions.
