Just wondering what are people views on stepped bottom boards seems an unusual concept from Hollands Martin van Meurs

www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Windsurfing/Gps/Introducing-mXr-windsurfings-Rockstar-shapes/
phil after martin posted the rockstar shapes i chopped a f2 270 sputnik, stepping the mid section down from 520 to 420 and lifted the tail a tad, the wider section in the nose gives the board stability at high speed and takes out the rock" n "roll and transformed the board into one of the fastest boards in nsw
I'm not sure about the stepped bottom but it looks like it will reduce the wetted surface area and that's what its all about
I've emailed martin a couple of times about how great his boards are, also offered mr speed nut too personally test the rockstar in our waters, haven't had a reply back but i'm sure if they are going to hit our waters there will be a few of the illawarra speedsters standing in line, just remember phil ACT GUSTBUSTERS are at the top of the Que and being our n/o one man youll be n/o 1

Sorry didn't know it was covered in a previous thread Keef I can see those modifications on your board, you've made a lot of good changes and come up with a very progressive and comfortable board well ahead of its time. Just read the old thread great read very interesting.

Had a go on the Simmer Godzilla a few days ago with a 7m race sail and 46cm G-10 fin, which was on the large side for fast runs. Later on I sailed it also with a 43 Z-Fins carbon fin.
Both fins were working very good with the board, and I was doing similar speeds, peak speed being just 0.45 km/h slower with the G-10 fin. 10s runs were pretty much similar. With the 63cm wide tail you have a lot of leverage over the fin, making it easy to control. The tri-concave hullshape gives lots of fin support and is really comfy in big chop. I think a 40cm fin would have worked perfectly and would have gained me some end speed. Wind speed was around 17 kts max and the board was easily controlled even with the pretty small sail which in comparison to the board's size was not really downforce-effective. No control issues whatsoever. Top speed 56.30 km/h//30.4 kts with the Z-fins fin. Could easily sail a 7.8 or maybe even a 8.6 that day. But I don't have such big sails. I wonder about your experiences with this board.
