also posted, the lake is at it's absolute best for a southerly for speed sailing
with all the guys in N,S,W that traveled to SA/LG only one guy turned up and went close to his best speed at LG,
It's also good to see someone is looking at my posts down south , MT has sailed this place twice and bagged a 40+and a 38+

Not true at all Keef. I got 4 pb's and I know most of the Illawarra boys got pb's too. You couldn't be further from the truth with that comment.

I heard it is getting to the too shallow to use stage?
I only have a 20cm delta for my slalom board- 18cms for waveboards but bit of a waste going speedsailing with them.

another comment rexy made was, me putting sh-t on LG ? , I can understand sailors heading down there in February because our n/easters are backing off, and the consistency and density in wind they get down there is fantastic , I also can understand guys making the trip because they don't get anywhere near those conditions at there regular sailing spots , as for the LG it self
after saying that , it's great to see more and more sailors making a regular trip to sanctuary point, and to be honest they wouldn't be here if It weren't for the videos and I hope to see a few new ones in the future

Hmmm.... all the way from Geroa to SP and you have to get up early Some of us arrive all the way from Sydney, although I have to admit, a front row car park is hard to find when the wind is good. There always seems to be some mega van there blocking the sun these days.

Mmm Google says its 4hrs 10 each way from my place ( no traffic) so will have to be a 2-3 day trip..

Looks like a fun place to me Keef. And with Gerroa just up the road, the 7 hr 20 min trip to me sounds fine for a week long stay. How is the lake in a nor-easter (in case no southerly fronts go through)? Thinking a spring / early summer run.

Sanctuary Point is nearby and it's brilliant in a NE + Gerroa..

Keefy, you've got my vote for the next "Honourable Windsurfing Mayor for the Shoalhaven" elections.

First course of action will be to build more carparks for the influx of enthusiastic visitors!! "If you build it they will come" comes to mind...

I would also consider purchasing a Mr Whippy van too! You'll make a killing!!!

Dean, NIGEL was on his 115 rocket for most of the day and WITH HIS 24CM UNIFIBER WEED , AND WAS ABOUT TO CALL IT A DAY

the wind kicked in and I talked him into sticking my 19cm 50deg delta into his falcon and got his PB , he didn't like the fin at all , if you take into account he is about 90kgs , and on a 102lt falcon with a 6/0mt sail and a 19cm fin , if your doing your sums it doesn't add up
if you look at the vid I was way under powered with all my weight on my front foot
unfortunately the gopro's memory was full and the wind kicked in and the weight changed from the front foot to the back, now that's when these fins kick in and your fully powered up and driving off the back foot in shallow water, hopefully we will see another day on wollumbulla , the water level is low so we need some rain as the lake higher than sea level ,

Hi Keef, I have a delta 19 already that I use in my Patrick 92 which is pretty good once powered up, but keen to try a maybe a 21 for the falcon as I have tried the 19 in it and was very ordinary even though I was sailing pretty much off my front foot. So I take then the water is quite fresh considering the lake is higher than the sea? Anyway if I see a good southerly coming and on days off will watch the forums and see if you have had enough rain for it to be sailable. Thanks.

This lake is one of my favorite spots, NE through to SW it's such a good spot. I'm no speed sailor and only use my wave boards, I used a quad there on this day and it was so nice just to cruise. I was a little under powered on a 5.3 wave sail compared to the guys on their 6+ race sails but it was still a great day. Skimming the sand flats in a few inches of water is something to take in and remember. If the water holds depth this is the place on the south coast to hit for a southerly. Here's a couple of old vids I did from a few seasons ago when I was introduce to this awesome flat water destination...Worth the drive for sure. Excuse the long winded intros, I though I was a film making guru back then

Thanks for posting vids and photos Keith. You certainly got me out of my backyard and I'll be getting down there as often as I can. I'll be keeping an eye on the Southerly change later this week... looks like it could be a good day down there .

Dean, I thought it was windier than it was (from the noise in the big gum trees around the rigging area), so rigged a 6m. I should've been using my 7.1m.

I was using my Unifiber 24 as Keith said. I highly rate these fins. Only time I hit the bottom was stalling the occasional gybe. And boy, do those fins gybe beautifully. They also hold on so well, like no other fin I've used... you can really push hard on them and consequently they go upwind great without even hinting of spinout. I'm not sure why more people don't have one in their kit. The smallest size is 22cm, which would be fine at Wollumbulla.

Dezza I had Omo booked in for the photo shoot but no show as he was getting a pedicure the music is called the generation gap not sure about jase's choice on his first vid it sounds a bit digital and corny ,I guess you put it down to about two generations

It's well worth the round trip Sue. Smoothest water I've ever seen!! Sure it's a long way, but do-able in a day trip... especially if you share the driving.

Definitely have to get there one time - can only fit one person in the car with boards in so will aim for an O/N trip.So what directions are sailable there?
