Hi all,

I have purchased a gw60 watch.
I have worked out to export the SBP file onto my mac computer.
How can i then analyse the data?
I have downloaded gps action replay pro, but when i try to open the SBP file i just get a blank screen.
In the past i have used action replay with GPX files and there was no issues.

Also how many sessions can the watch hold?

In the GW-60 Quick Start User Guide is a section on downloading to computers other than Windows. I too use a Mac, but I run XP in emulation on it for downloading. I just find that works for me better and I can run the Windose version of GPS-Results which has more features. Anyhow, from memory.... no wait.... That is far too unreliable.

This is the bit from the Quick start user guide:




go to settings on the watch screen menu, then

3.13 USB CLASS: Connection type

COM: Virtual COM PORT for Windows platform user.
UMS: USB Mass Storage for non-Windows platform user. (Note: Set UMS before entering "MSC mode"on 3.14)

Someone who does this regularly will chime in and add more user friendly detail, I am sure.

GPSAR-Pro:

The only thing I can think of is to make sure you are selecting the SBP file type to open in the GPSAR menu, and then make sure you are trying to open the correct file from your saved folder.

Oh, I just remembered. Before you can open the file that download to your Mac, you must go to File > Get info and then untick the little box that says locked in the info window.

This is just a strange quirk. Dont know why.....

How old is your GPSARPro? I have version 5.21 and that works fine. I think older versions may have trouble with the 5hz data.
My version has two options,
Open sbp with auto split
Open sbp no split.
If you have more than one session on the file use the first option, If you only have one session use the second option.

The number of sessions depends if you've set it to 1hz or 5hz recording. 5hz uses 5 x the memory. And if you've set a min speed, say around 2kts. If no min speed is set it's still using memory when you are stopped.

This what I found on the locosys site.

"Built in flash memory to store 1,000,000 GPS logged points."

So work it out, either one of those every second or 5 of them a second.

So my calculator says that's about 277hrs at 1hz and 55hrs at 5hz.
I've never tried it in practice to see I delete after every session, so depends how long your sessions are.

RealSpeed is very capable and, I think, easy to use software, that can do some very useful customised things that some others can't do if you want to fiddle with the settings. But unfortunately, critically for the OP, it wont run on Mac unless you have emulation software like VMware to run it in a version of Windows. (As I do. )

Also, the older versions of RealSpeed wont work correctly with 5Hz and higher files. You need the latest version which is V2.001. Not sure if the webpage download link goes to that version. If anyone wants it, PM me and I will send you a download link.

For Mac, GPSAR-Pro and the Mac version of GPS-Results are both excellent. I find GPSAR-Pro (runs under Java) can do a lot more fancy things, but is a little harder to learn how to use to the full extent. Mac GPS-Results is straightforward and easy but with less customising options than the Windows version, or GPSAR-Pro.

And of course, you can also do a simple analysis of your session for GPSTC by uploading the file to KA72 speed locker.

How long does charging take.

Don't know exactly, but during a distance day at LG, I stopped for about 25 mins for food and had it charging off the Car socket for about 15-18 mins when it was showing almost flat. I recon I got about another 45 mins out of it that day, maybe slightly more. (The screen blinked off while I walking in at the end and checking my last run.

Charging time would vary with the power source. I don't think the GW60 will accept much more than 1 amp charging, (It won't charge from my 2 amp Ipad charger) but some power sources would are below 1 amp.

Real distance guys, can't use one watch, charging time is too slow. they'd need two watches, one on charge while they use the other.

I had mine on charge for an hour over lunch last time I did a distance, went from 2 bars to 3, still had 1 bar when I quit after 200km. So I think 300km is a possibility with one watch, depending how quickly you can rack them up.
