i 've used hose tape and seems to hold ok

bita a bark of a small twig works as i only rember it stips as i rig it up :)

Go to your local plumbing superstore and get some rubber tape, the stuff you use to wrap leaking PVC with. It bonds to itself to make one big rubber ball if you wrap it around a leaking pipe.

Wrap some turns of that around your boom, then put the clamp over that. No slip, ever!

You might find it in the masking tape aisle...

You can find it at Bunnings (WA) in the paint section. it's called Vulcanising tape I think. it works a treat

I second the vulcanising tape idea, grabbed a roll from work as some idiot ordered 10 years supply and have found no other uses for it around the house but it is great for the outhaul cleats

My son had the same problem with his racing kit. We tried all sorts of stuff but eventually the cleats would start to slip again.

In the end we cut open an old bicycle inner tube, cut it into strips and used that - never slipped again after that
