Hi Guys,

I am coming over to NSW for 1 week in the next couple of weeks - unfortunately for family illness but may have sometime in between hospital visits to go for a sail. I am staying at Kogorah and wondering if any close by shops that i could hire and use some gear. Would prefer not to bring my gear on plane - damage, etc. Also where is the best place to sail close by for speed sailing? I believe Botany Bay is close by and i wont have transport but legs, trains and buses.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Carl

Gidday Carl,
Staying at Kogarah you are very close to the bay. As you are probably aware we have had bugger all wind in Sydney for quite awhile but maybe the signs of an early spring are happening.
The sea breezes usually start in spring but just maybe (if the whole universe aligns) you might luck into one.
Other than that are the westerlies (gusty) but more likely.
As for gear, the only shop in Sydney is at Collaroy on Sydneys northern beaches.
Wind surf n snow have it all. If you are able to get across give Sam or Chris a call on 9971 0999. You really need a car to get around.
As for speed spots, just down the road is Sandringham in SW/S direction, the airport runway for nor-east and a little further down the road for S/SE bump and jump.
Hope this helps,
Cheers,
Larko.

Hi Larko,

Thanks for your response. Will keep an eye on the weather and see if it is worth the effort.

Thanks,
