I was looking for some info on this board I bought around 15 years ago for a song at Glascraft and came across this thread:

That thread's too old so I'll add my bit here. Compared to a 288cm 120L Mistral Explosion 2 (my other board) it's a bit twitchy but goes like a scalded cat. Very flat rocker, pintail, a little vee and sharp rails from tail to lethal nose. It definitely looks the part in unpainted carbon. Last outing was at Lake George at the end of March with a 7.4m NP VX3 in 20-25 kts south easter for some very speedy runs in the big lake. Here's the stats:

Length: 286cm
Width: 55.5 cm
Width @ 30cm from tail: 32.5cm
Volume: Gut feel says around 120L.

That looks like another on built on a Polyurethane blank.

Tuttle box or Powerboat? (Two screw holes or one)

The white one you have would most likely be Polystyrene foam core.

Peter Cochran (CockyPete on GPSTC www.gpsteamchallenge.com.au/sailor/view/3997 ) might know. He used to own Wind Action, and shaped a lot of boards there. Kellie had some of them.

Thats a Billy Riddel Windaction before Peter took it over.
We use to refer to them as ironing boards because of there flat rocker.

There were two Carbon Wind Actions brought into SA by SA Sailboards . They were custom ordered by Two Dentist ( Bob and I Can't remember the other) who used to upgrade their boards all the time, they sailed off chicken shop in the mid nineties. One was 275cm and the other must be the one you have .
Around 1995 I bought second hand the 275 and that was the fastest board at Lake George in 1996 . It was around 100Lt nice sharp rails, Pin tail , stiff and durable, Cruised up wind, It has a powerbox and the mast track is about 5cm too far forward. It was one of my favourite boards, probably because I was at uni and I sailed so much back then. After that board I tried Copello's, Fanatic's(First carbon falcon imported in the 90's),Caveman, Drops, StarBoard's,and the Mistral SLE the Orange ones none of which I enjoyed as much as the Windaction.

Heres my little beastie. From early 90s. might be about 90.532l but not sure. 9 foot long. And the thing wasn't shaped all that well as one side of the bottom is flat and the other V. Remarkably it still sailed well and was fast with NP WC Slalom & Racing sails, similar to above picture. Now residing on mezzanine floor as a piece of art. Next to mount my Waihau up there too.

How would those sort of boards compare speedwise to modern ones?
Did they have GPS's back in those days? Did you know how fast they were going?

I've owned this one since about 1997. Snapped the back off my first one by hitting a coral bommie at full speed.
Magic board, super quick and easy to gybe, (was when i was sailing it in my younger days).
Has a lot of sentimental value, - reminds me of the days working and sailing on Green Island.

My Dad bought this Peter Cochrane shaped Wind Action board from a gold coast guy(wish I could remember his name), around 1997-8. The guy used to compete with this board in SE QLD and apparently did quite well with it. I dug it out of the shed last week, cleaned it up and have it ready to try out on our next decent day. That is the original fin too. I couldn't find the vent plug but filled it with Sika for now. It looks fast sitting there(56cm wide), but not sure how it would compare to the modern boards? Would love to know of any speeds achieved with one. I also have the original rig which is a 6.6 Gaastra with one of those curved battens that stick out of the top of the mast. State of the art for back then. Can't wait to try it out!!

i have 2 windaction boards ,1 a old salom pro 9ft 6 inch square tail that i am rebuilding and owned since 1987. the other is the same as your top board but has the yellow and green camo.it is a supper fast board.can be a bit temperamental to gybe and slow up wind.they dont have a upper speed limit .but take more to get them on to the plane. i think i brought this board about 1992 paid extra money to get carbon top and bottom .vollume is around 115l and 9ft 2inch this is me on my board last year.be

Sounds like this could be the other one then. It has a power box but no deck padding and it doesn't look like it ever had any.

I'll be getting a canmore soon so in tandem with my VX3, I should be able to put some numbers to the performance of 'old school' equipment. Strange to think I now sail vintage gear, the TC Runner I learnt on as a teenager is what I think of as vintage gear.

I have a TC Runner that was given to me last year, only sailed three times !!!!

Still very Quick boards I managed 42.5knots on the next size down 275

My first board was a TC Runner, My parents brought it for my 12th birthday.
I would take it off your hands SO18, Except I live i Queensland, and would need a B-Double to get it here.

Ohh yeah!! That is what I wanted to hear Vando. Very nice speed. Thanks for the info. Sounds like I have a chance of getting my first 30+ GPS speed with it.

I took it out last night and it sure feels skinny after the Formula board which is such a limousine. However as soon as I did my first gybe the wind dropped completely. Oh well, I have something to look forward to next time. I would like a modern slalom board but will save the $ for now and play with this sleek toy. I was able to just uphaul on it in perfectly flat water so that was a bonus.
