Just noticed the windiest spot in Oz is Wilsons Promontory at 38 knots from the SW.
Be interesting to see if Daffy, Craig etc are out in it.
Fingers crossed

Wind was all early. Kato was out just after dawn as usual and is still sailing at 7.30pm!
By the time Spotty and I got out it was only 15-20 but SW and pretty steady.
MI did 5 or 6 runs with peak speeds over 50 knots but they also needed just a bit more wind. Best I have seen them go so far though. 50 knots in less than 20 knots of wind is pretty impressive!!!!!

Seaweed it was,

MI crew were raking it from the run further down, there were some big bits about.

MI is looking pretty reliable now, bit more wind and hopefully they will do it.

Spotty did a best of 24.88 on this day but the one in the video was no where near his best. That was just as I was walking back after photographing MI's run and he was just hooning around.

Yep. Always intended to but it has taken me ages to upload the video of MI. Tried a few times but it didn't complete. Trying again tonight.

OK. It seems to have worked this time. This was probably their slowest run. The pod was touching down continually. Looks quite underpowered. Notice how it leaves the chase boats well behind....

All the planets seem to be aligning for all but a few;
- Hydroptere
- Sail Rocket
- MI
- Wotrocket?

All have now flipped, disintegrated, tried forward loops but have shown some increadible speeds.

2009 could be a big year for the record books (nothing like stating the obvious).

Andrew,
Thanks for the video of MI too.

That's terrible news Kato, I feel for you...

I really hope Mal can sort this out, you put in a huge effort and to be let down by GPS failure is... just... horrible.

How much longer where you out after we bailed due to the high tide?

Craig, I wouldn't be in too much hurry to change your result. The trackfile you gave me that records 273 kms started at 10:27 and finished at 9:15. There are 28,570 in that SBP which is the max that the GT will hold in its internal memory. So the trackpoints have definitelywrapped! You are missing several hours of sailing in the morning up to 10:27.

I say keep the original total!

Finally a good reason for not using the SBP files... they arn't big enough! What does the SBN say?

i reckon just post the original distance...
and just a thought, but would the garmin have the first few hours recorded? if so, just check distance before 10:27 from gamin and +273 i guess... i'd assume it would be ok for verification as you'd have enough track data....

Just did a cut and paste of the Garmin and Navi tracks. The Garmin up to 10.30 and the Navi from 10.30 to finish and the final figure is...361.41km. I,m now happy that I can verify the distance.
What I have learnt
......NEVER edit tracks when tired
......Always save the original track FIRST
......The Navi,s internal memory isn,t big enough for distance stuff (I thought it was)
......Copy the file in the SD card not cut and paste into your file
I now have a seperate folder for my edit files so i carn,t stuff it up again...I hope[}:)]

Hey Kato,

Congrats on the distance

I just leave all my files on the SD card, never deleted one, still have 900 meg free (1 gig card). I figure at $16 for a new card it's cheaper to buy a new card than to have the worry of deleting data...

Glad to hear it's verifiable. 361 k's is a humungous effort.
