I know its not speed sailing, but both kids compete in the GPS competition:

The ISAF youth world sailing titles finished up in Buzios, Brazil last night. Jo Sterling came 13th in the girls RSX and Luke Baillie 20th in the boys RSX. The competition was hot and they did well considering they only stepped on a RSX around March.

Only 8 of 11 races were held. One day was cancelled as wind was over 30 knots. Luke thought it would be 'fully sick' to go out (No surprsies there) and Jo said there was no way she was wrestling a RSX in 30 knots and went shopping for more Brazilian bikinis and shoes (no surprises there either).

First time the windsurfers have come from QLD. Great work kids!

Hi Michele, thanks for the heads up as I have been wondering how they went in Brazil after meeting them both earlier in the year.

They're both very nice people (not kids any more) and it's great to see them compeating on the world stage and doing so well

I hope you kept a good eye on Luke and he wasn't running around with any Brazilian A Framers

Wow super effort, Luke is a great young dude and going to Brazil i'm sure his off the water experience would have been just as memorable.
Was the event held at Florianópolis? i've been told the women out number the guys 20-1

I tried to follow that on the web but I couldn't find it. Never mind, it was a great experience no doubt. A pretty good result too.
So Michelle, what's the weather and life like in Buzios? Would you go back? I note that it's about 2,000 ks away from Jeri so I expect it would be quite different.

Hi Dave
I didn't go over, David did. I was relegated to stay at home. They are due home on Monday so will get all the news then. Although parents were banned from having much contact with the sailors, so he did most watching from afar. Buzios is 2 hours north of Rio.
