A traditional annual speed event. Not an ideal speed spot these days, as the wind comes over the top of a high stone spit which creates the flat water. Start and end gates mark the fixed course, GPS tracked.
The speeds arent fast compared to some speed spots. It just goes to show how much the actual spot can affect speeds, despite Portland being fairly flat water.

Saturday was light winds and people used foils. Tuesday had people switching from foil to fin and back. Not sure about Wednesday, I think it was fins.
Thursday was light winds, but picked up at the end of the day. He did 33.4 knots 500m on 140l board and 8.4m. Which I think is quite impressive. My best 500m there is 32 knots on an 80l & 5.6m back in 2009, not in a competition.
Finally on the last day Friday they had decent winds and speeds, Simon Pettifer won the week (windsurfers) on a 99l & 6.8m with 38.35 knots.

This year was a great event with 97 competitors in total. 54 sailboards, 32 wingboards, 10 kites, 1 boat.

WSW own 90 Motions Minis and have our own custom software for automatic downloads over WiFi at the end of each day.

The GT-31 had served us well until now but man, it's so much easier running the event with the Motion Mini.

Yes Thanks to Julien, the mini motion is a godsend. It's kept the GPSTC alive
