I have a BT-11 and work from a MacBook Pro OS 10.5.2 and I want to load GTX files into Google Earth to see the runs over the map. However, when I load these GTX files into Goggle Earth, whilst it takes me to the spot(so i know the GTX file is working), I can't actually see the course run(the tracks) on the map itself. Has anyone come across this or know how to correct it so you can actually see the track points, ect

Turn off all the other tracks you've imported (the little tickbox marked "GPS Device", "Courses" or "Paths").

I think the mac version has a bug, certainly on mine you can only view one track at a time. It does the same thing as yours -- you import a track, it takes you there but you can't see it until you turn off the other ones you've imported.

Is there a step by step guide to changing file formats to something recognised by Google Earth? I am using Realspeed for the tracks and that works fine. I am using a Navi GT11.

  • Open file in Realspeed

  • File->Save As...

  • Select "GPX" from the pull down menu for file type

  • Save file somewhere where you can find it later

  • Open Google Earth

  • File->Open...

  • Select GPX file you just saved

  • Voila!

In my version of googleearth, you have to change "type of file" to gpx otherwise it won't show up.

Thanks to both. Yes my version does the same thing and that is what stopped me. Plus Realspeed won't allow me to save in GPX format, I have to export the tracks.
