GT-11 finally died and I have just set up my new GT-31 with latest firmware. Two questions;
1. Can I just transfer SD card from GT-11 or do I need to reformat SD card with the GT-31 and if so will existing files be deleted from card?
2. Do I need to do anything with Realspeed programme (version 1.923) apart from changing Alpha parameters from trackpoint to doppler?
Cheers,
Brian

When I helped a friend set up his GT-31 I was able to use the SD card from my GT-11 without formatting it. Its FAT32 format so it shouldn't be a problem. Perhaps it may not be a bad idea to backup the files on the SD card anyway if you don't want to lose them.

Again no problems when testing Realspeed with his GT-31 compared to my GT-11, Realspeed worked fine without needing any modification when we tested it on my laptop.

How did your GT-11 die?

Thanks Moby.

I originally thought that the GT-11 died because my Paqua sprung a very small leak and there was some condensation on the inside of GPS screen. It was apparent that when I took it apart for the first time the housing for a screw on outer casing (near the toggle) had been busted and therefore had compromised the rubber seal. The electronics board showed long term effects of moisture corrosion at this point. In lightly cleaning all this build up off the corner of the circuit board I think a minute chip (transistor???)came away.

It still works for a short while but heats up more than usual and then shuts off (lasted about 35mins last sail) Recharging battery also is problematic. It's probably beyond repair which is a shame as it would have been good to have a back up and compare the results of the two models.

PS - I think i'll fill the screw hole recesses with some silicone just in case this new one is faulty in respect to its waterproofing.

Swapped my card from 11 to my 31 straight over - no problems. (after a bit of a rinse in fresh water to remove salt build up)

Thought the better of it an bought a new card.

Yeah you are right. Been so long since I've looked at it and even longer since I've dealt with FAT16 with disk drives.

Yeah, I thought so but when I tried to get that info in the properties in XP all I get is FAT.

Thanks guys - no problems with card going across from GT-11 to -31. Now I just need some wind to go for a sail.

Sailquik - should realspeed alpha parameters be set to doppler rather than trackpoints for GT-31?

Gday Snags, my realspeed programme (the one for GTs) gives option of selecting alpha for a GT11 or a GT31 both set up as different divisions. Maybe need to update the programme ? or the default.rsp file for the divisions ?

ps This weekends looking good for a run!
