We (the Canberra Sailboard Club) had a few races there in the mid 80s. We marked gaps in the fences with broken mast sections.
My enduring memory was the mud, and the problem that caused. If you fell off, avoid, at all costs, standing on the lake bed, because your feet would then drag globs of mud onto your board, and it took ages to wash off, and, in the meantime, was very slippery.
"Don't fall" was the best option; water-starting a close second.
One non-race day, I planed my Bombora Tri-fin to the eastern side, and back, a round-trip of about 18k. Ah, memories.
