By the way Andrew and Roo, Locosys make a 10Hz gps module so they COULD update the Navi if we let them know that is what we want.
see
http://www.nghobbies.com/cart/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=41&products_id=361

yeah, seen that. Tom has had quite involved discussions with the Locosys people about going 5 or 10 hz for our needs and incorporating accelerometers. They are aware of our needs. There are other technical issues as well apparently.

Still waiting to hear back from Roo about his equipment and setup. Maybe he has solved the problems....

Drift,
That was excellent - thanks for giving us an appreciation of SP - definately (desperately) want to go there. Next year maybe.

BTW - It's funny how a mental picture of someone turns out to be completely the opposite of the real thing (Hardie - I'm talking 'bout you)

A quick update. 20 kt SE wind today so sailing on the east bank with the fast guys getting mid 30,s.We had a late night at Hamma,s place so most of the crews were a bit slow onto the water...well i was. Thanks for the BBQ. Not much wind for the next few days so I,ve ducked home to catch up with the family. Its being really good to see a lot of new speed sailors comming down to this gathering and i hope we will see many more give it a go in our "non competive" environment. Next bit of wind looks to be Wednesday. Sorry for the lack of info but the internet access is very limited and we would rather be sailing/drinking/socialising and GO karting. We miss ya Al

A long time no see visitor turned up at Sandy Point yesterday. Al Gleason, who came to all the early speed trials, brought with him some old video footage of Sandy Point events in the late 80's, early 90's, some of which I had never seen before. There is actual video footage of the big day in 89 when Mal did 41.9 knots, exceeding the existing world record (Erik Beal - 40.48 kts) by quite a bit. In interesting interview with a very young looking Peter Dans as well and much more. I am working feverishly to convert and upload the segments of video. Stay tuned.

Great stuff Andrew and Alan! Ahh those were the days - not really, but the sand spit sure was smooth! Shame Mal wasn't there on the windiest sailing day (we think) since '89.

Hey Al!! It's me, Adrian Bonomi from ex Narrabeen Lakes/Fire Station Sailboards days! Great to hear you're still into "it". Left my details with Lydia staying with Matt & Co. Have a good one and catch ya later one day.
