Hey guys just to give you an idea of two of the many speed channels at Stanley. The first video is in the first channel, where i have hit 44knots in that small little pond.

The second video is a couple of channels out further which is really really good and now just waiting for some proper wind to see what it can really do. Dad has did 44 in that channel.

P.s Paul, hope you don't mind me posting this forum up seeing as you and Ben are the ones that should take all the credit for two awesome videos. Good to see dad is the one being caught crashing jibes

What wind direction is ideal? Does it ever get really strong, as in 35-40+ knots from the ideal direction? Just trying to suss out if it is a potential WR spot.
Looks like it is well worth a visit in any case!

Alot like Lake George. Just a wall of wind and probably even more consistent. what ever the forecast is that is what it will normally be at Stanley

Best direction is probably ENE and this is the typical direction when it really blows up there (30+). The sand bars have not been that good for a number of years, so a fair few Tassie sailors waiting now for one of those gales to blow through while the sand bars are good. Also sailable on a SW'er. Wind is offshore, but doesn't really matter when sailing in the channels. No-one ever really targets Stanley during a SW'er, but if we're there for slalom, for example, can get some good conditions. As Izaak said the forecast is usally pretty spot-on for Stanley and the wind can be very consistent.

Hi Vando you should be here not had a chance to get a good sail but looks like next wed will be a go the boys are talking it up , how is that mast holding up ok looking forward to Burrum will be back for it Cheers Pete
