G'day. Does anyone know anything about the small, screen-less 10Hz sports GPS that JBHIFI sell for $300?

Just sent to them:

Hi SPT,

What GPS chipset does you tracker incorporate. Specifically, is it a ublox GPS chipset, and if so what model (M8?)

Our organisation: GPSteamchallenge.com.au runs a world wide GPS speed sailing team competition. We are investigating whether you GPS could work for us. To be useful to us it needs to be able to output Doopler derived SOG speeds @minimum 5Hz (preferably 10Hz) and also the speed error estimations that we know the Ublox GPS chipsets can produce in their ubx output format.

We already have available a phone app that can record this data via Bluetooth, and save it for analysis, as well as giving on the water feedback of the things we are interested in. Currently we are testing it with custom made Ublox M8n based Bluetooth devices and we are searching for a commercially made and available device that can be paired with this app. or used as a stand alone logger.

Need more info on this. After a particularly nasty impact I downloaded some apps to use the phone accelerometres to measure any future impacts only to find the phone accelerometres only go to 3G (one only to 2 ! ) so ok for accel but not stopping.

Of course this logger may have better ones with greater range but it also might not.

Geez Daffy, as an ex-school teacher & GPS aficionado we would expect you to know how to spell "Doppler"
