We didn't quite hit the minimum 30kn, but with most guys on the water we decided that a 29.5kn 5x10 is good enough.

The easterly bank showed itself today, so alpha's were on the cards with Shelby pulling a 24.92kn alpha 500, with peak runs of 33.91kn by Anthony Hamood of the South Oz imports. Luca and myself decided to take Daffy's Gemini-tandem out for a few runs.

The NSW guys got out today in about 5kn of wind – with it drizzling, most of us weren't that keen to get wet... but the wind squalled... and it was on.... well for three of them... :) They managed to skunk the rest of us, with +33kn.

The boys picked up a few kite-lanyards that were laying around.

Many thanks due to Mat for his fantastic efforts in organising this speed event - publicity, house bookings, nightly prizes, evening get-togethers with photos, video and speed tallies, not to forget the huge pasta dinner for all the speedies. Great work Mat, much appreciated! A terrific event not to be missed in future years.

We had the final prize draw and get together this evening. Sadly, a few of the guys had already left and many of the Pit Crew were absent due to the very poor forecast for today but there were still about 20 of us to enjoy the festivities. We plowed ahead with the big prize draw featuring a Brand new 2009 KA Koncept 4.4m speed sail. Guess who won it?

Our intrepid and much appreciated organiser Mat Robertson put a huge effort into the week organising houses, the results from each day and even cooking the hoards dinner not once, but TWICE! Fantastic job Mat. You are a legend!

My thanks also go to Matt for organising a sensational first week whilst I was there. It was awesome to sit around chatting to some of the fastest guys this sport has to offer and picking their brains for tips. Especially fun for me was leaving Slowie in my wake one day, although we were in go karts and on asphalt as opposed to Shallow Inlet
4 days sailing out of 7 (could have been 5 but I'm not as confident these days going out in 60 knot winds ) and 2 pb's have made me a happy boy.
My thanks too for the gift voucher I won from Surf and Sail in WA, I am looking forward to having a harness that was actually made in this millenium!! Maybe I can try and pair it up to try and use the 20cm harness lines I also won!
To all the new people I met this year I very much look forward to hopefully seeing everyone again next year for an even bigger and better Speed Fortnight 2010

Matt. Well done mate on organising the event. Absolute bugger I had to do a super short notice OS trip and missed it all except for "Spottie Sunday". Still in India.

Hopefully everybody enjoyed it greatly, I am sure you did, and that next year can be even bigger and better.

Yes we probably looked wasted as the afternoon was spent either blasting around the inlet, or ripping up the cross off wave sailing action just on the other side of the Pit in the sunny easterly(More pics to follow c/o Whitecaps / Drift). All this followed by a few beers and the heater in the house turned right up to keep the interstaters warm makes you look errrr wasted I guess

Thanks heaps matty, absolutely awesome time, from a beginners point for view it was like a clinic heaps of great advice and great sailors every where we will be back next year with hopefully a few more sailors.
