"a power turn in slo-mo" brilliant find Bender. The aussie John Hall's? rig just imploding was a classic.

The one thing that really amazes me is that only 5 years after this, sail design had made quantum lepts (relatively). This was my pride and joy in 1986 - a Gaastra Speed Slalom cambered sail.

What a gem of a clip. Aside from the equipment, the fact that they're sailing on a beam reach (90deg) says a lot about "speedsailing" in 1981!

Love the old footage

I bet they loved a beer after those days, mind you I think with that energy drained out I would be a one beer wonder then off to bed.

That's is really cool footage. I have almost the same chest harness in my shed here as the yellow one at the very start of the vid. Thought I would give it a try a few weeks ago to match all my vintage stuff, but honestly it's to bulky as it acts like a vest and harness in one, but comfortable to wear though. It's back up on the shelf now I think.
