Well I know I've got a smooth addiction, but today I found out just how bad.
Went to Mandurah keys for morning coffee, and low and behold an expanse of mirror water on the other side of the samphire banks. Pulse rate went up, and was almost salivating at the thought of that shhhhhhhhhh sound from the board wake hitting the water.

I thought it was the start of our Nautical mile run, but after looking at google earth it's probably all the shallow water in between Boundary Island and Creery Island, which probably isn't sailable on a normal summer tide. So back to hoping it will happen this summer and dreaming of what happened a few years ago.

Decrep, it's a good thing you haven't been driving up and down the foreshore over this side on this round of spring tides. When the tide is just 'Goldilocks', there is mirror smooth the entire length - enough to probably put the ol' ticker into fibrilation I would reckon!
( I am not sure how much of the smooth is due to weed and how much is tidal, but it looks sensational)

Just look at your self in a mirror, and imagine that under you feet, with wind blowing 20kts.
Well not quite under your feet because there's a bit of a bow wave there, but just in front of the feet.
And of course the reflection isn't as good, depending on how clear the water is, you may only see the weed and fauna underneath you, apart from the few bits of floating foam clinging to the weed that's made it to the surface.

Fangy's got some videos on here somewhere, I'll see if I can find them.

OK this gives you an idea,

In the second vid I am on my the little board with a 6.6 sail. I need high teens knots of breeze for that combo to work :-)
This one below is a light wind late afternoon, but the view of the weed is nice and clear.

Be interesting to see a similar vid with your new fins, I bet the turbulence of the fin isn't as marked.

Good point - I will set up some video as soon as you have organised a bit of breeze.
( To be fair - the Cocktail Crusing video featured the massive 30cm black deltoid fin we made, that had the surface area of a tennis court, so I would expect just about anything to leave less turbulence)
