A bit windy there at Sandy Pt today - Wilsons Prom reading 50-60 kts SW!

Look forward to seeing some PBs from lots of NSW sailors tonight.

Morning session was skunked, tide came in too quick. They might have got some runs late in the day but the wind has now backed off to 20-25. It was one of our "might have been" days

Sorry Hardie,I kept the world turning and went to work instead. I played at Invy after work in the "Crazy" chop with the wind switching WSW to WNW with bullets added in just for fun.

Spoke to Daffy in the morning and his email reads

Change came at 12.30. Red had a run on 5.4. By the time I walked down with my 5m rig it was fairly blowing! Go going easy in the lee of the dunes thinking "that was too easy". I few bullets hit me soon after and nearly flatened me. As I got to the end of the dunes there was an almightly ominous cloud of sand fog. I chickened out and stopped. Went back for 4.4m sail and weight vest. Tred to get going a few times and got slammed. Just like Spottys Big Sunday. Now the tide is rushing in, so I gave up.

Going to wait and try to sail as the tide drops. The wind is forecast to ease back a bit then as well. I just hope the tide gois out.

After that I went up on the dune with my wind gauge. 45-50 knots. Gust to over 55! It was good to know I wasn't so much of a wimp after all!!

It actually would have been epic if the tide was going out instead of coming in.

Got out late this arvo gusting well over 35/40 knots way 2 much power for a 4.7 slalom on speed.. Wasn't confident enuff to run close to the bank and suffered thru the ruff ****,, Byron daffy was flying,, Greg had a mad run roped of with a hell stack .. Could only manage a 37 .. With a bit less wind I think I could sheet in and power on

Must have been some other Daffy. I wasn't there.......

Heard the late session was classic PiT though..........

In the morning as the change came through the wind went from NW 20-25kt through a similar strength westerly for 5 mins to a 40 gusting 50kt SW. Sailed down the course on FW41/RS6-5.4 at 33kts on wind against runin tide woopiedoos and just managed survive the sail back on too much sail as the change continued to come through. Walked down the course around 4.30pm as the tide receeded and stood in the sand storm for a few mins. Wind was reading 30-35 with 2sec luls to 22 & 2sec gusts to 41 for a few mins then down a bit to 25-32 lulling 20 gusting 36 for a few mins. The variation in sand storm off the high dunes made it easy to read the change in wind on the course before attempting a run. Water condition was absolutely perfect for speed sailing. Only did 2 runs down the course as the 5.4 was a bit too much sail to come back upwind on & the walk was puting too much sand in the lungs.

I had the misfortune of having to cross bass strait last night in the type of ship I call my office and it was a horrific night at sea, good luck to anyone who got a session in this morning in the left overs you deserve good numbers if you got out
