I am not sure if anything 'semi-organised' is happening this year. I guess after last years low number (but high quality ) roll up it is hard to know if it is worth it.
I think some of the PiT Crew who have acted as organizers in previous years have decided to have a change of scenery, some have other commitments and some are just burnt out.

It is still a great time to spend a couple of weeks in Sandy Point if you are into windsurfing and especially speed. The chances of epic speed conditions are high and there is usually plenty of days of windy fun outside of epic speed days. In almost all years we have had at least one day of excellent WSW speed conditions and another 6-10 days of really good fun sailing. Of course it is better if you have a dozen or two like minded people to hang out with, and even better if there is a bit of a fun challenge to one up your friends in some sort of points ranking.

In past years we have had some generous sponsors who have donated some equipment related prizes for participants to add a bit of spice and fun. I don't know if anyone is prepared to take on the task of chasing that up, organizing rental accommodation and gathering/ranking results. I think we need some new and enthusiastic blood with some fresh ideas.

We have usually had speed fortnight in the last week of September and the first week of October. Last year it was brought forward a week as the school holidays in many states coincided.

I will be around for the Vic. school holidays up until the 1st or 2nd of October when I am heading over to Luderitz. So if anyone is around it will be good to see you and have a sail.

Need to sail Sandy why we can as last year what I saw with the vegitation its just about stuffed.

Yep, I am in for this year bmac. I agree with your sentiment regarding the future of the point. I waited 20 years to go for a sail there, so now i got to make up for lost time before the vegetation kills it. I am in for 2 weeks in october. prob stay at Possum Cottage again. let me know when you and greg are heading down - I am flexible with dates but would prefer earlier than later.

Back from Luderitz October 28th so should be around in November. It will be good to catch up if you are still there.

The changes in the spit at Sandy Point have not destroyed it for speed sailing yet, but they have narrowed the window of sailable wind directions and strengths quite a bit. It can still be epic on WSW 30 knots plus! And a hell of a lot of Fun on SW for long flat blasting runs and 1 hour's

hey, thanks for getting back to us, well me and lyds are still keen to go, so we will probably go when bryon and greg go,,,,it wont be as sweet without some of the gunns from the pit crew there, e.g daffy, spotty, kato, mathew, these guys are great ambassodors for the sport down there, although i did feel like they were getting in my way if i let them go down the run first,,,,,,what about issac, chinaman, what about chappy,,,,, pfffffff vegeation, its still sweet sailing, i havent noticed any changes, but again, the bank is just a blur to me!!!!

Looks like we will muster up a good amount of friends to sail with. I have to wait for the race calander to come out before planning the times but I will let people know. There will be a few houses required.
look forward to sailing with pit crew and hopfully some of the bonno blasters who I have become good friends with.
