I have posted a new version of RealSpeed with a calc fix in the Alpha. Andrews smoking runs found an error in the recent optimisations put in to speed up the Alpha calc. Basically RealSpeed was now missing some better choices in certain circumstances.

This also explains why GPSAR got a slightly better Alpha result than RealSpeed in some Alphas. Thanks to Yann and Andrew for letting me know.

I believe this raises Andrews Alpha 500 record even higher to 27.609...

Hi Mal, that fixed that file that wouldn't show the best 2sec speed I sent you a while back as well. It now shows that speed run.
Thanks

G'day Mal,

Just loaded the newer version on top of old.

When I run it and load a new file it comes up with an error message "Out of Memory"

Should I uninstall and redo the whole lot?

Alby,

RealSpeed works fine at my end so it might be an issue with your machine or your download. I would first reboot your machine to see if it was just a memory glitch. If that doesn't fix it then uninstall RealSpeed, then download and install it again.

Another option is to remove the default.rsp file from the RealSpeed folder temporarily in case that was corrupted. To do this, shut down RealSpeed, move or rename default.rsp then run RealSpeed again. it will prompt you to say the default.rsp is missing then will create a new one for you. Then try loading your file again.

Let me know if it persists.

Getting biatch slapped here.

Uninstalled programme
Redownloaded
Reinstalled
Setup default file with Alphas
Opened file....same error message
Closed programme
Renamed Default file
Restarted
Opened SBN file which came up with message "couldn't find Default file"
Programme appeared to recreated a default file but no other error messages.
Start modifying default file to get distances and doppler set up.
No problems till I do an Alpha division, then memory message comes up again.
I had system resources screen open at same time and there was no excess drain on memory (barely registered).

Has that distinct aroma about it.

Where all else have failed, Elmo's destructive powers have prevailed

Alby,

It sounds more like that particular file might be causing RealSpeed some trouble. Could you send me a copy so I can test it?

I ran some of our files through, and only saw improvement in one file, and only by .1kt, so this is good but not critical.

Thanks for the update anyway.

Dylan.

Elmo, looks like I shouldn't have teased you about your computer...

Mine's doing something similar

Version 1.925, 1.924 and 1.920 stall when calculating alphas on the track I made today.

Eventually I gave up and used GPSAR Pro, it worked fine.

Edit: Version 1.918 did work. No idea what's going on here.

I won't laugh....to much

Have gone back to 1.923

This one worked for me, the new version is idiot proof, I can't get it to work

OK, thanx Dylan... thought it may have been a stupid question, after thinking about it. Updated ok and works through the alpha problems I had.
