Hi all, still getting to grips with our new BGT-11 and associated software. We are running the newer firmware from the site, and also have Realspeed (and Google Earth Pro.)

I have set up the GPS to start logging when switched on. However, it doesn't record exactly how I expected it to.

We also use the GPS in the car for navigation via Nav4All (which works great) but what I try to do is to switch off logging when in the car and switch it on again when we want to use the GPS for sailing.

I am using the "Log Switch" setting under "Memory Card" in the GPS to turn logging on and off.

Yesterday we drove down to Redcliffe and this was pretty typical:
At home I switched on the GPS and set the Log Switch off.
Then I switched off the GPS.
Then later on I switched it on and we drove down to Redcliffe using the nav software.
Then I set the "log switch" on and turned off the GPS
Later on we switched on the GPS and sailed for a bit then switched it off.
Then switched it on and sailed some more and switched it off.
Then I switched it on and set "Log Switch" off and drove home.

When I downloaded the data to PC at home, it had the whole drive down (bad) plus the first sailing session (good), but no sign of the second session (bad) or the drive home (good.)

What is going on here?

I have a 2GB SD card in it.

Well if it was me doing it, I'd say what I had intended to do, and believed to have done, didn't quite happen.
But then I'm getting old and stupid!
And am quite capable of doing the exact opposite of what I intend, (why I'm not game to try kiting)

Does seem very strange, all I can suggest is to experiment a bit more and see if you can spot a pattern.

An aside, the recommendation for having logging on, is to use "on signal" that way it doesn't start a separate file every time you turn it on, and a min speed of 2-5kt so it doesn't record time sitting around.

Or just log everything... its not like your 2GB card is going to fill up anytime soon.
