I had this problem occur last year after using Google Earth with no problems previously. I think they updated Google Earth and the graphics card on the computer no longer supported it.
That computer died and I now have no problems with Google earth on the new computer.
I would suggest a new graphics card.

Had the same problem but i always clicked "this link" in the text below your screenshots
and it works.

* Note - the Google Earth Plugin will only work with some browsers/operating systems. However you can download the kml file generated for this overlay from this link and manually process it yourself.

What is very scary right now !!! after few try to download plug ins to see my maps I finished with my Google Chrome infected !!! be warn !!!
Suddenly on the side of my Chrome adds starts popping up with advice to install some software on my computer to
speed it up
resolve hard disk problems
etc
all this scam !!!??

I needed to remove Chrome completely and re install....
we will see if it helps...
I am a bit disappointing with my new purchase of BGT-31 - seems that is old crap that doesn't just work on
computer - latest files dated on 2010 asking for memory card 2 GB that is impossible to purchase anymore as the smallest is 4 GB -8 GB now .
I can just run device and record my tracks without compromising my whole computer system !!!

fine and next 2 weeks wasted to have one card from HK as nobody has around anything less then 4 GB

for this 3$ manufacture could throw free SD CARD inside box already instead of releasing useless device.
How much he saved on missing CD ROM drive ??? 10 cents ??

besides your advice is misleading as long as I am aware

you suggest to look for micro SD since the device suppose to accept only standard ordinary size SD

I haven't got my computer infected with anything in last 10 year - because I am so conscious - and now
because device doesn't come with any software and drivers, doesn't show any logging data straight on I am forced to waste my time
searching whole internet to make it working and get this all nastiest on my computer !!!
Re installed Google Chrome seems to work ok now... I mean without this scam pop ups adds but
GPS overlay doesn't work anyway

Here's the official response to these issues from KA72:
Google Earth Plugin
The Google Earth plugin is entirely the product of Google. If you visit this site (www.google.com/earth/) and it doesn't work there, then it won't work at KA72.com either. (If it works at the link above but not in KA72 then there is something else going on. Please let me know if that is the case!)

Since the plugin is very GPU-intensive, having out of date video card drivers, or just an old video card, can cause problems with it. Because there are so many different video cards on the market, I can't give any specific advice without knowing what model your video card is. (It is always a good idea to keep the box your video card came in in case you need to know this kind of thing.)

Even if you don't know what video card you have, there are a couple of other things you can do. Number one, try installing Google Earth itself, and see if it works (by clicking the link on the overlay page as suggested by Darryl and others above.) Sometimes Google Earth works even when the plugin doesn't.

Secondly, try doing all this in a different browser. Sometimes, just sometimes, there are problems with a particular browser that others don't have.

SD Card
Annoying though it is, your best bet is to buy an SD card off eBay. Try and get a SanDisk one. The lmgtfy link provided above (which made me LOL, incidentally) uses the -micro switch to try and AVOID showing results for micro-SD cards. However, I've successfully used Micro-SD cards in a GT-31 previously via an adapter card, so don't feel you have to avoid them completely.

Chrome Infection/Ads
What has happened here is that because of your Google searches for resolutions to your issues, Google has placed you onto a list of people that get served ads for malware/speed-up-my-computer ads. Maybe you even clicked on one, which would result in you seeing more. (My MIL always sees ads like this.) You can see exactly who Google thinks you are by going to this link: www.google.com/ads/preferences and particularly take heed of what is in the "Interests" section.

Here are the things that Google thinks I am interested in:

My best advice is to invest some time in getting an ad-blocker installed in your browser. A lot of the time I run "CatBlock" which replaces syndicated ads with pictures of cats. So instead of seeing ads for "Cleaning Agents" or "Rap & Hip-Hop" I see cats.

GT-31 Settings
I run workshops on setting up your GT-31 from time to time. If you are stuck, or just want some quick help, call me and I'll talk you through it. My phone number is all over the WindWanderers website (it is the contact number for Membership stuff, and appears on the footer of most pages. See the very bottom of www.windwanderers.org.au/ for instance. I don't like to post it here because I can't edit these posts later, and my number may change.

Gold Coast GPS Team
Consider joining WindWanderers (see link above.) We run a GPS competition that allows you to post files online all year round, integrates with the GPS Team Challenge, but has lots of other groovy features in addition. It is limited to sailing sessions in Queensland waters, and there are a couple of Gold Coast sailors in it already. There is a strong emphasis on fun and learning in the club, and a large number of GPS sailors involved in it at all levels of ability. Also, our overlay page works even when the Google plugin doesn't!

Dylan.

Hi Dylan, thanks for the response (and the great software). I can confirm that I get the same problem using www.google.com/earth/

So it's not you site

FWIW I am using a new i7 laptop, winblows8, IE10, pretty surprised it doesn't work. I Googled and found that their is an issue with IE10. I placed it in Compatibility Mode and it works fine.

Hi Dylan
Thank you for time and advice.
I may be really interested joining WindWanderers and posting my files when problem eventually resolved.
I hope that few more friends here will be interested to join also.
It will be really great opportunity to check and view how me and others where doing at exciting session at Shearwater today for example Google Earth as stand alone application works fine.

In the browser MS Internet Explorer and Chrome doesn't.
I removed Firefox some time ago so don't know about that one.

I remember that plug is was working a year ago since some automatic update to MS Windows. Maybe I will be able to see tracks on 10 " Android tablet I have ?

But now bigger problem appear as GPS fried itself today
. No that wasn't a single drop on the case even as I used completely watertight protection.

Can small SD CARD ( 16 MB Canon) cause damage to GPS ?

Just works as it should !!!

GPS is now died but data on SD CARD survived
but that formats seems to be different to expected by KA72 ??
what to do now to see something ?

now I can open every single txt file and see in GPSRESULTS 6.122
Can I somehow merge this txt files to see complete 4 hours session not every few minutes ?
There are 30 single txt files for that day

I managed to merge txt files manually but I am sure must be better way then copy and paste

amazing how now GPS RESULTS program can present this on Google Earth overlay
