Poly because it is more than $1000 cheaper than a full carbon version.

Polyester-resin instead of epoxy-resin?
For me it looks like it is not a sandwichboard, just laminated core.

It is not a sandwich board. it is how custom boards used to be made before they sandwich them. It will not be a stiff or as light as a full carbon board. However some might consider the smoother ride will compensate for that.

You say its $1000 cheaper than a carbon epoxy board. How much are they?

Very interested to hear how it works for you. Many of my very best boards were/are polyester. For bump and jump I consider it the very best option for comfort on rough water.
I see no disadvantage for speed either.
Only problem I had was that if I made them lighter and more dynamic they have limited life (heel compression and rocker warp etc.). Make them more durable and they get heavy and too stiff for best dynamics.

The big advantage: Sooooo much easier to shape, glass and finish and soooo much cheaper to build.

sailquick there's nothing Wrong with heel dents , i put them into all my boards, i'm sure they make the board more stable and controllable, i only wish my CA 44 them, that board feel like riding a log downwind in chop or maybe its the driver
i'm also surprised OES is using timber stringers , here's an old blank from the late 90's with a carbon stringer,
i would call the OES a speed slalom have a look at the two boards and i'm sure you will notice a similar resemblance, but the difference with the blank is it has a concave deck, a carbon stringer, heel dents, and a much norrower and less volume in the tail and its epoxy, even with all that bog it has to be lighter

I thought you had a nice orange to red airbrush, was it was just the flash illuminating the transparent layup in the build phots? Is the blank actually painted solid red?

I agree I was a bit surprised to see the picture. I think it may be due to being taken in a different light and that the first shot had not had the non slip surface applied. It was ordered as solid red.

Just having a friendly dig. Speed boards here are generally a lot narrower!
Actually, that is not far off the last polyester speed slalom I made which was 8'8'' X 18.5" That one I did a 44 knots peak on!
