I'm on a one man crusade in the Gorge to bring back Gorgemobiles. Here's my trusty steed to get me to the beach with speed and old school style. 1970 Datsun 240Z BRE. Couple of Richard Green slalom boards on the roof and race sails inside. Taken this afternoon looking westward in the Gorge before a nice session. Beware it bites!

Hmm, I don't see any "kill markings" on the side- the number of speeding tickets you've scored on your way to the Gorge.

Yeah, i think you should add some "blood" splatter. it'll make people think twice about getting between you and the beach. Maybe a dent or two as well, and some scrapes. I believe you can get them in sticker form now.

Had an old g/f who drove a 240z for windsurfing.
She was a windsurf instructor at Alameda for 8 years before we dated.

Roo, BRE had very little exposure here in Oz. I had a book on all the mods. Engine, Brakes, suspension you name it they did it.
BRE took good handling vehicles n tweaked them into well engineered circuit racing monsters.
Apply a few of their mods to a street driven version. Hey Presto you've got a quick, top handling vehicle.
Only sold the body last year. Still have all the running gear plus 190hp L20B Naturally aspirated engine. Top speed was just shy of 130mph.

This isn't speeding to the beach. But when I returned to Sailboarding about 5yr ago. Lived very close to the beach.
Saved on the rigging n derigging time. Sail til Dark.. The ol Aerotech was 40kmh limited.

The old 240Z might not be as fast anymore but the gear on the roof is faster on the water. Suns out and feeling the need! Ah the Gorge, can't beat it.

Wow! I was afraid of asking what was the best way to transport a rigged sail to the beach with a van... I live kind of 900m from the beach and I'd love to store the rigged sails at home and do what you did but I'm afraid of 2 things:

1) Police tickets.
2) Breaking the sail.

For what I see in the picture the fin is touching the sail???

Did you use this method regularly?

Thanks!
