Going to checkout this spot in August/September, looks a great spot for NM (3.3km long approx 600 wide) runs and works on most directions, being on the coast also helps.

PM me if you're thinking of giving it a go. On it's day it can be good fun but at the moment it is full of algae, about 20cm in depth and has some submerged hazards on the east and west sides. If it's low you've got to slowly walk your gear through knee deep soft mud. (that's if your launching it when it's blowing NW.) I live about half an hour away and call the Schomberg in so they can look out the window and give me an idea of the depth. I

When the mouth of the river closes and there's some good rainfall the depth is about 1 to 1.5m all the way across. On a strong W or NW with the right depth you can sail up right beside the reeds and it's awesomely flat. Feels a bit like waterskiing on glassy water.

I haven't sailed crofts (located to the W of the lake, you can see it in the google image) but I reckon it would be the go in a southerly wind. Outer reef breaks down the swell. It's also an excellent spot for SUP. Good sized waves and if there's no swell the cliffs apostle like rocks and reef offer some very scenic paddling.

Cool, if the water depth is good it's going to be a killer run especially over Spring when we get the strong fronts coming through and being on the coast the wind will be nice and consistant

Looks good at the moment. Only thing missing is the wind.
Weed on both sides will have to stick to the channel, see what happens with the wind tomorrow
