Hello,

My friend has a problem with new GT-31 unit.
It worked well when he tested it with a bicycle but now it does not turn on.
It turns on when it is attached to power source.
Has anybody had this kind of a problem?

It will go to warranty but he is now on a windsurfing trip and would like to use the unit.

He has tried resetting to factory defaults but i did not help.

Is he holding down the button and waiting a reasonable length of time?

So is the little button working at all?
In other words does it just turn on automatically when it's plugged in.
If so once it's on does it change menus when the little button is pressed.

It may be a "fuel gauge " error. Li-ion batteries have a protection circuit to stop them going below a certain state of charge. If the gps has gone through many partial discharges/recharges cycles then the fuel gauge can be off and the gps switches off. Usually a full charge and full discharge full charge recalibrates the gauge properly.

Or your gps may be stuffed.

Similar problem on my gt-31 thats couple of years old. The on button is tempremental. a couple of times i could not get it to turn on at all left it until that night,then it turned on first time. worked fine for about 5 sessions and today spent about 5 mins before i could get it to fire up the last session was the same.then on/off on /off worked ok the battery still shows full. Always turns off and changes mode thou.
i turned it on/off 3 times tonight and its working fine again.????
