It's so sad what money focused developers will do to foreshore real estate.

Hi,

I am no Mandurah local. Can you tell me where this photo was taken? My wife and I had a look around Mandurah a month ago. From what I could see the lake has two entrances. Is that the northern or southern entrance?

The development around Mandurah is amazing. Nothing like that is happening in NSW. In relation to coastal development, NSW has already gone down the path of foreshore development and blocking public access. Once access is taken it becomes private property and is gone.

From what I have seen there is much more public access to waterways in WA so don't lose it.

What you don't see is that we have inherited the same designers as what made the gold coast, who seem to be in love with bloody big towers.

One concelation, as Mandurah is only about 2m above sea level a lot of these building plus all the anal development's will make an awesome reef as it has been projected that with about a 1m rise most of Mandurah will go.

Good to see the good citizens of Mandurah have their priorities right and kept the golf course intact.

we moved to Mandurah in the early 80's when the town had about 13000 residents only
I believe in teh 70's there were only around 3000.

The body of water behind the sand dunes is/ was dolphin pool where I learned to windsurf and used to work with a lesson and hire school. There would be 50 odd sailors with families using the area on weekends in the summer.
Our rigging up area in now in someones loungeroom in one of the thousands of apartments on the new marina.

the faint sand bar underwater at the edge of the main bar to the bottom was where many of the mandurah guys got their first wave jumping sessions. I still remember my first jumps there.

The bare patch of sand by the river near the top bank was our hockey playing fields for years.
