The canal will still be there. All you need is a hire car/van and a mate to drive it! I don't think it would be hard to track down one of the trailers they used and pay a driver if you were really keen.

Lets see.... Return flights direct to Luderitz, say about $3000 return. Hire car, oh say about $100 a day. Hotel about $60 a day plus food. Excess baggage about 15KG at $60/KG = $900 x 2 (return flight) =$1800. Lets say about $6000 all up.

Hmm, I wonder what that works out at dollars per run down the canal?

600 runs...... $10 per run.....cheap.
