It looks to me like windsurfing in WA will go through something of a renaissance this summer, inspired by daylight saving and GPS.

Hopefully this will culminate in a big turnout in the Lancelin Ocean Classic this January. Lancelin is the perfect opportunity to get most of the WA based participants in the GPS Team Challenge on the water in the same place, at the same time.

So this is a challenge from the Swan River Mob to all the other Mobs to be up there for the big day. Perhaps this thread can be used to come up with some suggestions as to how we can make this particular challenge even more interesting. Who's keen?

Yep i,m keen. Did it last year for the first time. Had a great run other than the lack of wind. Got big gear now so look out.

I challenge my fellow team mates the Mandurah Mob, last one in has to unrigg our gear and get the beers.

Only problem is Elmo's gunna have to learn to Gybe!!

Yep, Flash backs to Regs Cervantes "Excursion" 13 Gybes only one of them where I stayed dry, lost 2 positions on the last one within sight of the finish line.

My biggest problem would be the need for the Fatty boombalata gear as the wind can be quite iffy

...and you Mandurah boys are going to have to negotiate more than the odd ripple. This is not Hardies Run.

Got no probs with the ripples (gybing is my down fall or fall down).

My doubts are about having to use 7m+ gear and big boards.

Re suggestions,

How about a teams class, 3or4 riders register for a team and the top 2/3rds or 3/4's provides the result.

There is no need to worry about the wind this year Elmo. Despite the fact that Lancelin is a very windy place, yet the wind never blows for the actual race, this year is guaranteed to be windy as I have bought myself a 9.0 and a 115 slalom board. This should be enough to guarantee 25 knots and a lot of fun for all!
