gotta love lake george when it turns on. no matter the direction you can always find a patch of flat near the spit for gybing and holding down the hammer.

i just looked it up on gps team challenge, and holy s*** you guys were cranking! the bonney boys certainly can sail! good work.

nah, we were there a few months ago and it's all good. Jimbob tells us there's a bit of a rocky outcrop near one of the islands directly to the sw of the end of the spit, but keep clear of the island and you'll have no issues. otherwise kilometres of open riding at your disposal. it can get lumpy on the northern side, but you can always find a flat patch, usually around the spit.

on my most recent trip i rode a 38cm fin and away from shore i never came close to touching so the water level must be down a bit now for Choco to be bottoming out at 32! lower water might introduce new obstacles, but in any case; be sure to get in touch with local legend Jimbob before you head there and he'll give you a sit-rep on the lake. i think he sails it about five times a week, so no-one knows it better!

KM's of open riding!! Sounds awesome. Be good to try something different to the salt water world in Melbourne. Do you recon the water will hold for much longer? The lake dissapears quickly I thought?

not sure as to when(if) the lake will become too shallow to sail. surely given the wet summer we're having it'll be on for all this season at least.

looks like an awesome spot and a great session, great results. looks like the car was almost in the lake

Was there a few weeks back with Jimbob. Lake he reckons, stays about the same level most of the year. We sailed on the other side, as kites in the speed strip the day we went out. There is a long sand spit which splits the lake, and this is where the car was parked in video.
Whoever heads that way, you wont regret the drive out, its that bloody good, and sailing with Jimbob is just an added bonus. One of the sports nice guys. Just send him a PM and he will be only too happy to link up.

Hey kimba, the stig at the start comes from warnarbool and talks with a kiwi accent, ( i'm **** at remembering names) he was riding a 2008 F2 missile and had a new north 5.2 race sail that he didn't get on too well with he ended up using his mates naish wave sail and was running 37's
we had 4 vics there 2 warnarbool crew (there 3rd trip in last 3 months) and 2 intermediates from melbourne who only had 5.5 wave sails, had to lend them a 3.5 ezzy and small fin.
I was running a 24 fin in both boards.

have had a constant run of people to sail with all summer have enjoyed the company, Pete from onboard keeps giving crew my number so have been getting plenty of calls to show everyone around. just been out the dunes bashing around with speed demon Joe and his boys.

the sailer at the start would be me.

Great footage Kimba, can't wait to go back on a really wind day with my 5.2 sorted out. Still managed 37's with a 5.0 naish session wave sail.

you need to join a gps teamchallenge team. but you seem to be inbetween us speed demons and the conneware crew, maybe we should look at a team from the warnabool/portland/beachport area's if we can get enough interested.

Kimba is our team captain maybe we can let a vic in seeing as you will be speed sailing in SA.
