http://willyweather.com.au/sa/limestone-coast/beachport.html Beachport Wind Statistics:
This week / This month / This year / Between these dates
Strongest wind:
37.9 knots SSE 3rd February 2014
Average wind speed:
8.6 knots
Other years over January - March (excluded some other wind directions)
37.9 knots SSE 1st March 2010 (Coincidence?)
32.1 knots SSE 9th January 2011
39.1 knots SSE 1st March 2012 (As I remember it the water was too shallow by then, but there were a few nice 30 knots days in Jan/Feb)
32.1 knots S 11th February 2013 (hard to find a strong SSE in this year but I personally measured some pretty steady 30 knots SE-SSE days

)
37.9 knots SSE 3rd February 2014 (I think that was Jacques Port tack day and as I remember it, the water was still too deep for best conditions)
I am slightly surprised at the strength of the SSE Max's. If it was more than an isolated gust it certainly indicates that higher speeds than have been so far recorded may be theoretically possible. Its always the way though isn't it. If you are not in the right place at the right time it might as well never happen!

And then the water level and weed level will still have to cooperate.
So yeah, the place sucks. You might as well all stay home to avoid the frustration!
