Im looking at getting new seat harness - currently using the Severne Pod and really not liking it at all. I'm tempted to go for the Prolimit Rambler. I've found with the spreader bars I like the wide bars as less movement.

Any recommendations?

It looks like the spreader bar on the Severne is short. It does have 4 anchor points on it, and the straps spread to keep it in place, but long straps so the movement.
The Prolimt looks to have a much longer spreader bar, but the straps closer together, although the length of the straps is short.

I use the ION Fuel and the bar doesnt move. It is was a cheap less is more harness and comfy. I see ION, part of the Fanatic/Duotone empire, have now decided to put their 'C' bar on it, in place of the standard bar. Last time I looked, probably 2 or 3 years ago, the complete Fuel harness was a cheap 80 GBP and a replacement 'C' bar alone was 60. Just checked, a 'C' bar is 80 GBP and the good old one 30 GBP.
The Fuel harness with the 'C' hook is now 180 GBP. I bought a spare a few years ago and havent used it yet. WTF are they doing, making a decent harness that more expensive by adding something it didnt need?

I recently went looking for a spreader bar setup that was 'locked in' but also able to be released relatively easily. I ended up with a Mystic Ace bar, and then went with one of their seat harnesses as well. The only downside is that it doesn't seem to have the model name written on it anywhere....

I've got the Racing with the Banana Bar, changed to this from a Dakine XT & I find it more comfortable and less restrictive.

I found the Severne Pod straps don't lock very well. The spreader bar is narrow - im looking at other bars that might suit the Severne.

I'll look at the Mystic though.

The Dakine XT - really bulky - just like wearing a really full nappy

I find the Pod straps lock if looped back through the buckle.

Funny, I thought you might have gotten it in one as I did buy it from SSA. But looking at the pictures, it doesn't match any of those, so I looked on the Mystic website and it was/is one of these:

It is replacing or supplementing a Dakine Vega harness, and so far it feels at least as good. Looking at them both, there really can't be that much difference between them and the main driver for me was the ace bar so that I could unclip the bar while still strapped in.

The mystic ace-bars are available as spares through places. I think they are more secure as they use 4 straps, and the locking clip doesn't seem to lose this security unlike some others.

I've had NP bars and then NP with the pivoting hook on Severne MCR & POD. POD is a low low hook race harness that is great on the steed course. I'm getting used to it on the foil but I use the MCR on LT. All booms have 28-42 lines. I don't use my waist harness anymore.
if you find a spreader bar that suits you it very likely to fit to your chosen harness. Dont use NP masts in Severne sails tho

The Prolimit Rambler is the best seat harness I've used, mines about four years old and still going strong.
I also have the Prolimit race, both very similar in feel, build quality and hook height, the only difference between the two is that the Race has more adjustment for the hook height and it has more back support making it slightly bulkier.

The Rambler has a slightly more minimalist feel (in a good way).

I couldn't decide which I prefer, so I'm keeping both, I'd defo recommend you check them out

Puzzled at the comments of people wanting a very fixed bar.

I have sailed for years with seat harnesses that allow the bar to move side to side about 30-40 mm and find this ideal. Bars that don't move and allow me to twist my hips a twist facing forward a little I find REALLY uncomfortable.

Unfortunately I have found it very hard to find such systems in the past 10 years. The DaKine 'Speed Seat' is my all time favourite. It is minimalist yet very comfortable for me, has the adjustments I like and is set up with a sliding bar. Perfect.

Annoyingly, they done make them anymore, and I recently lost my best harness and it's backup in the fire.

Very interested to hear of any moving/sliding bar alternatives out there now.

If it'd moving side to side that would be perfect but it's the harness bar moving up being shorter allows for it more. Then re adjusting the straps.........

Looking at the Rambler but the bar latch is fairly ordinary

I've gone through 3 prolimit bars in 3 years.

I moved from the Prolimit Rambler to the Severne Pod a number of years ago. I prefer the Pod because it has a lower hook height and less bulk round the waist. The bar straps did initially slip, but I solved this problem by threading the straps back through the buckle.

The XT Dakine sure is a bulky harness ,but fantastic back support if you've got a **** back like me it is made for MAX back support ,
,its like sitting in a frigin arm chair ,it has good adjustment on bar height ,and bar is sold seperate , Its big but really comfortable and well padded It also floats you really well ,Dakine tuna would be my second choice ,
