I uploaded the speeds on Thurs but didn't do the tracks. I now want to go back and see my tracks. How do I find me and do it?

You need to have google earth installed.
Go to the KA72 homepage, and you will see a list of the latest sessions posted.
Go to the bottom of the list and you can select other pages. Go back until you find your session (easy if you can remember your location and 2 sec speed) then click on the overlay link.
or
you can click on the "BIGLIST" button and find your location (they are listed in order of timezone, NSW is near the end) then look through to find your session and click on the overlay link.

Got it.. What do the colours mean? There was one pink bit which I imagine is my fastest speed?
Ooh this is fun.. Interesting to see my gybes. I remember doing one planing one and you can see the curved track. The others are finished off too sharply..I didn't realise the North Entrance channel was so obvious!
I noticed some of the numbers on the website were 47.3 or something..they can't be speeds can they?

(This is by memory because my google earth is no longer working) red is your 2 sec peak, black are the 5X10 sec runs, grey is the 1 hr, blue - nm, green alpha.) White is the rest of your track.

They are all speeds but not all are windsurfing!

average speed over 500m with a gybe - Start and end point within 50m diameter.
Faster gybes = Faster alphas

sue a jibe isn't an alpha, its only an alpha if its inside the 50m radius

Why do they measure it? Surely if I do 2 runs and one turn is sharp and stops and the other planes out the alpha would be on that one? 50m isn't very big..? What if you turn on a wider radius than that?

If the radius wasn't limited the entry and exit arms could be very broad off the wind to score a higher average speed, but it wouldn't be a true indication of how good the gybe was.
With the 50m radius the entry and exit have to be roughly parallel so it is a better indicator of the efficiency of the gybe.

If you turn on a wider radius it doesn't count.

Ok. Thanks..Went out today and slogged around in c 6kts until I had to come when it picked up to 15kts +- I only planed about 2 runs. Cripes the GPS must be over reading as I got 21.79kts.. Boy that last gust must have been ok even with the dense weed..

sue they are confusing you you can gybe as wide as you like. It is the distance between start and finish that needs to be not more than 50m. It depends on your technique what is faster, narrow or wide. And total distance is not over 500m, it can be anything under as long as you do a 180deg turn
